In October of 2019 we had a truck get stuck under a bridge in the greater Chicago area. My driver called and reported it to myself and the owner. We both began looking for a tow company to help. While searching a towing company showed up claiming that the police sent them (which turned out was not the case) My driver assumed that we had authorized them to work on the vehicle.

I assumed the owner sent them and the owner assumed I sent them. The Tractor trailer was removed from under the bridge. I was very specific that it was the only thing they were to do. They then proceeded to unload our freight into one of their trailers and despite our protests they took our load 6 miles.

These guys then tried to charge us $10,000 for the tow. We eventually got them to accept a number near $6,000 but that is still completely ridiculous and criminal.  My customer eventually ended up paying it just to get the freight back.

I filed a police report with Chicago PD. Because of the nature of the extortion crime, the Detective assigned to the case tried to get the prosecutor to take the case but it fell low in presedence for the department and was eventually stalled.

Since this happend, I have had two other companies call me with similiar complaints that were actually even more outrangous then ours. These Pirates need to be shut down forever. They should lose their license and they should be put in prison.
