Mountain Hardwear is an outdoor clothing company that touts a "limited life time warranty". Their products are overpriced vs their competitors but the selling point has always been their warrantly.
8 years ago I purchased a goretex Mountain Hardware rain protection jacket for over $350. I live in Southern California so the jacket spent the vast majority of its time gently folded in my backpack that I keep in my truck in the event of an emergency or inclement weather.
Last year the weld between the seems started to come apart and release a dandruff like substance all over the place. Basically the glue in the jacket seems deterioratedd. No big deal, this is why you pay extra for a thing you really need to be reliable. I called Mountain Hardwear, made a claim, sent my jacket in only to be declined.
The reason for the refusal to honor their overpriced product? The claims specialist "Patrick" said that the jacket was manufactured 14 years ago and it had outlived its useful life. Their limited lifetime warranty only covers a thing for its "useful life". I have tons of things I wear from the same time period, you knwo, quality things. Like my Danner Boots, my other rain protection made by North Face and many many other items.
Their warranty is BS and just a lie so they can overcharge you and not stand by their product.

Every warranty I have ever seen only covers defects in material or workmanship, not a product wearing out or deteriorating due to age. It specifically does not mean the company will provide new jackets indefinitely. And keeping a jacket in the back of a hot car is not exactly conducive to its longevity. Glues in particular do not like heat and humidity.
