Do not hire this company! While the technician was a nice guy, and diagnosed the issue with my washer, after he fixed it, my washer overflowed, leading to thousands of dollars in damages and, at this point, two months of repair work still not complete.

The repair person somehow messed something else up in my washer that caused it to overflow. The technician returned to assess the damage, said he felt bad, that he should have checked everything was working correctly. He offered to fix it again (for another $500!), which I turned down (I ended up having to buy a new washer).

The company, Mr. Appliance of Bellevue, refused to accept responsibility (even though the company website indicates "if a job's not done right, we'll make it right" and "all of our workmanship and parts are guaranteed").

The major, possibly illegal, thing to beware of is the fact that when you "sign" the estimate on an iPad, you are unaware that a disclaimer option is automatically checked and you are not told about any disclaimer--all you see is the rectangular text box on the iPad to sign with your finger. You don't know about this disclaimer until you receive a PDF later in email. The disclaimer says they are not responsible for any water damage. It has to be illegal to precheck this kind of disclaimer with the customer totally unaware of it.

Additionally, the invoicer indicated a $12 overcharge that I was due, but the company refused to indicate why this was or to pay it. They blamed it on "computer error." Technically and legally, I am owed that money.

Never sign anything without reading it.  I'm not sure how an iPad is different in that regard.  Just because the tech is in a rush doesn't mean you have to be.

Also, I doubt such a disclaimer has any legal significance, especially if they can't show that you affirmatively agreed to it.  The main purpose of them is to discourage people from pursuing legal action.

You could try suing them in small claims court.  Both for the cost of the improper repair and the consequent water damage.
