I had made continual calls to Paul Smith at Homepoint Financial about a simple refinance. This was in May. He said repeatedly it would close in June. July comes, they still had not done anything. When confronted - Natalie used the excuse of Covid which is convienant for most companies that feel like throwing that out there in my opinion when things are taking too long (yet her and Paul and most of their employees are working from home anyway) and then she said they were bombarded with rates so low.

So that's fine, but don't have your guy Paul lie to me and say June for sure. There was NEVER a mention of it continuing into July or August since he would say "you don't have to pay Julys payment" which clearly had to be paid because they still had not processed anything in July. Also most loans will take longer when rates are low yes, but that's loans where they need docs, they need appraisals etc. There was no appraisal, they based it off what we bought the house for. Also they did not need bank statements, etc. Hence the NO DOCS that Paul told us nothing was needed in that area either.

When I saw the excuses of Paul over the phone and her in email I told her to withdraw the application. She said she understood. That was July 10th. I just received a letter a month later saying my refi was denied because they couldn't verify work? Funny, I withdrew the application and signed via docusign the paperwork to withdraw July 10th. I have her email on 7/10 stating she would withdraw it, but she continued to run the whole thing a month later and then has the nerve to mess up my credit because she denied it based on they could not verify employment.

Last I knew IN MAY they were verifying it and as of JULY 10 they "still were working on it", so to give me two excuses that they could not verify or that they didn't have substantial history is lies. Additonally why did they continue to supposedly process it as my letter today in now AUGUST just said when they told me and I KNOW I signed off to wtihdraw the app and go with another bank which I did. Now they messed up my credit. DO NOT deal with this place. They lie to you and I have seen that for myself and then pull stunts like this. There's many othe banks that will not pull this nonsese in my opinion.

They sent a denial letter a month later so they did MESS up my credit

When I say they pulled STUNTS I meant they do. I have written documentation that they just denied it July 31 prior to the other bank pulling credit, but this is still going to be on my credit regardless. Instead of processing it the way they should "withdrawn by consumer" on 7/10   --they decided to process the loan and then tell me it was denied based on they could not get information, yet that was what supposedly was holding up the loan that-and them being so busy to get to it.

So as I said, instead of using the withdrawn code they denied the loan. When I spoke to my attorney he said many mortagage companies when you pull out, get offended and sometimes like to play God. But they can't use an adverse action letter when I withdrew from the loan and went somewhere else before they could even deny for what? They couldn't get enough info? They didn't want ANYTHING from us.

I even have an email from Natalie Frye stating that she would be so happy to send over the file to any new bank ...no she decided to process the loan instead of withdrawing. WITHDRAWING means you stop the process. Of course she denied on not having sufficent info, because 1. they didn't need docs and 2. they were supposedly still waiting for employement verifcation. My company says they did not call them. But I have record of them doing a lot of things in the past.

Apparently they took so long to do your refi you went with another bank. Seems like that doesn't help them at all.

As for "messing up" your credit. The ONLY thing that your credit report will show is an inquiry for a loan, there is NO indication it got denied. It would be no different had they run your credit approved you and you decided not to take the loan. At most this will have a short term(couple of months) drop of a few points.
