On June 2, 2025, I purchased a used 2011 Toyota Corolla from New World Auto LLC in Jacksonville, FL. I test drove it and everything seemed fine. Unfortunately, I was so wrong, things were indeed not fine.

It was getting late, around 8p.m., and while the dealer was attaching my temporary tag, something told me to check what looked like a dark spot under the mat on the drivers side. When I lifted the mat up, immediately like 4 or 5 roaches scattered into small crevices in the vehicle. Of course I freaked out, and told the dealer like "hey, I just saw some cockroaches in the vehicle and I'm kind of freaked out about it." He then told me not to worry and took it to the back to "vacuum it". He brings it back around and says he only saw "like one roach" and the rest were "ants or something".

Now mind you, I'm only 22, I was alone at this dealership and I was tired, so even though I was panicked, I decided that maybe it wasn't that bad and maybe there was only one so I took the car home and he told me to bring it back the next day to "detail it".. like that would fix a ROACH INFESTATION. Anyways, when I got home, a few hours had passed and that was when I really saw how bad the infestation was. I mean, this car was CRAWLING with roaches, e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. In the seats, under the mats, on the dashboard, in the side doors, the windows, even outside of the car. I bawled my eyes out crying. I couldn't believe they had done this to me.

So obviously I had texted the dealer because i needed resolution IMMEDIATELY. I told him I did not feel safe driving that vehicle and I wanted my money back and for them to take the car back and, I don't know, BURN IT?! He essentially told me that there was nothing they could do and I would just have to deal with it.

Since then, I have wrote multiple emails, called multiple people, sent certified mail, reached out to lawyers, disputed the action with my bank, and packed evidence upon evidence because I knew that I would most likely have to take this to court. Luckily, it's been a month later, and the lender has confirmed that they are cancelling the loan. However, I still have not heard back from the dealership, nor has my money been returned.

At this point, I really want to make others aware of this dealership and I hope that others can learn from my story and be extra careful who you purchase vehicles from. I wouldn't wish this upon anyone, and it has been extremely emotionally taxing and time consuming. I'm supposed to be focused on college and getting my life together, not dealing with this nonsense.
