I had no idea there was a pending class action lawsuit regarding the failures of the Nissan CVT transmissions. Even though a registered Nissan owner, I had never received anything in the mail, nor I had heard of the issues with these transmissions. I never knew in my wildest dreams that I had purchased a car with such a bad reputation with the failures of its transmissions. Even though Nissan has denied liability in this, it has been proven that they are a failure, but they fail at all different mileages.

I know now, through reading many many stories about these failures, that they range from the 60,000-mile range all the way up to 120,00-mile range. Nevertheless, how can an arbitrary figure of an extended warranty mileage of 84,000 miles be placed upon these failures? Truth is, they fail and for over ten years Nissan has been ripping off consumers for their own greed, and this is unconscionable. The failure of my transmission in December and the cost to repair of $3,800 has crippled my small business and devastated me.

I don’t have the money to get this fixed and frankly why should any Nissan owner submit to the tyranny of this manufacturer and pay for their criminal acts in this country? It is totally abominable what they have been doing to Nissan owners, and this class action lawsuit leaves out many owners. Through my own due diligence learning about tell-tale symptoms, I started having some maybe 20,000 miles before the transmission actually broke, but at the time I had no idea it was a transmission problem. With no recall notice ever, how were Nissan owners to be aware of any issues with their failed transmissions? This act is egregious, heinous and reprehensible and putting profits before customers has got to stop in this country, for it is so pervasive these days. It is totally illegal that what used to be a decent car manufacturer gets a slap on the hand for its horrendous behavior and criminal denials.

The evidence is in every city in the U.S., as I only interviewed a handful of transmission services that have either replaced the transmissions or have received calls regarding them. Like myself (after paying $125.00 to find out I have to pay another $3,800.00), so many owners are shocked and dismayed and devastated. Also Nissan made it so that these shops have to purchase an already rebuilt transmissions due to the complexity and who knows how reliable the rebuilt one is, so that is a ripoff, as well. I was told by one shop that they couldn’t get the parts, and the only solution was they had to purchase the already rebuilt one. So they have to buy one from a controlled Nissan parts house, and then they have to resell it to the Nissan owner, and, consequently, the owner gets stuck with a huge repair bill.

It is a criminal act all the way around, and even after talking with a consumer affairs person at Nissan today, I was told I had to go to a Nissan dealer and pay, who knows how much for another diagnostic, that I had done legally in December by an authorized repair service and then what? I would get the same message from a crooked dealership. They now need to be exposed nationally for what they have done to so many thousands of people in the U.S. they need to be taken down and exposed to every newspaper and news media outlet in every major city to warn people not to buy Nissan cars.

I am in the process of writing an Op-Ed to submit to newspapers, but i would also like to speak to the news media about this to help others.

I appreciate your comment. I didn't do my homework when I purchased the car from Hertz. I had one in the 80s and it was a good car back then. I now am shooting myself in the foot. But you know what I told Nissan yesterday, if I am the person to take them down, I will be. They need to be put out of business for good!

I don't know where you have been hiding, but it has been common knowledge for many, many years that Nissan's CVT transmissions are garbage and Nissan knows about the problem but just won't fix it.
