Oklahoma Human Services DHS I called to renew my SNAP benefits and was put on hold for an hour each time I called and given the run around!! Oklahoma City Oklahoma

I received a letter from Oklahoma DHS in December of 2024 that said I needed to renew my SNAP benefits. I called the DHS phone number which is the ONLY phone number you can use to contact them and waited to speak to someone for about an hour. I completed a renewal application and was told a case worker would need to contact me to complete the application for renewal. I didn't get a phone call from them so I called them back on January 3rd 2025 at around 2pm. I was told it was too late in the day and all representatives would not be available the rest of the day! So I called back the next week and waited on the phone for another hour to speak to someone! When I finally spoke to someone, the person I spoke to sounded like a wanna be gangsta. He was like yo what up? I said I need to speak to someone about my renewal so I can get my food stamps turned back on. He said yo I feel ya and proceeded to ask for my information.

I told him what he needed to know and he said he would connect me to a case worker. He put me on hold for another hour and a half while I listened to what sounded like Jamaican music. A recording asked if I wanted to receive a call back. I opted to receive a call back. After another 2 hours my cell phone rang. I picked it up and said Hello? No one said anything. I said hello? Again and nothing. Though someone was there because I could hear the sound of typing in the background. I kept saying Hellooo? And no one said anything. Just the sound of typing. Angrily I hung up at that point! I called back again and a recording said I had reached the limit to speak to someone. So today which is January 8th, 2025 I called early in the morning around 8 A.M. and according to the male voice recording the estimated wait time was 21 minutes. So I listened to that stupid Jamaican music for 21 minutes and nothing. No return phone call.

I waited another 30 minutes and finally someone called me. I said Hello? And nothing but typing sounds. I angrily said "Is anyone there? I don't have time for this nonsense!" Nothing but typing and faint laughing sounds. I called them a name and hung up. Then I called back again and waited another 2 hours to speak to someone. I passed the time by reading a book. I opted for a call back. Someone called me and the male I spoke to sounded a little more sympathetic. I explained to him that I was going around in circles and I had called numerous times and when I received a call back, I would say hello and only hear the sound of typing and someone laughing.

He said oh I'm very sorry ma'am for your trouble and told me he would get me to a case worker now. Then a voice said the estimated wait time would be another 82 minutes. So I opted for another call back. I waited and didn't get a phone call. I called back again and a recording said that I have reached the limit to speak to a representative. So I can't renew my SNAP food benefits and it's because of some LAZY IMMATURE, GANGSTA WANNA BE THUGS WHO THINK IT'S HILARIOUS TO LISTEN TO ME COMPLAIN!! THANKS FOR WASTING MY TIME!
