We engaged in a legally binding retainer agreement with Ray Damron's business associate / partner - Ben Klein - also CEO of Webet, from March to May 2025 to develop their MVP. Our services included full-stack development, mobile iOS engineering, infrastructure, and strategic consulting. The total work delivered was valued at $35,000, but we invoiced only $22,500 as a goodwill gesture to support their startup vision.
Payments totaling $15,000 for March and April were processed using a credit card belonging to Mr. Ray Damron, CEO of Onyx Fire Marketing. In June 2025, both payments were disputed and reversed via American Express chargebacks, despite full delivery of services.
Between June 10 and July 17, we made multiple attempts to contact Mr. Damron by phone and email to resolve the matter professionally, offering documentation including:
-
Signed contract and scope of work
-
Invoices, timesheets, and code activity logs
-
Communications and meeting records
Ray Damron has not responded at all. His silence, combined with Mr. Klein’s coordinated actions, reflects a calculated abuse of the chargeback system to extract free services. We’ve since learned similar behavior has been exhibited toward other vendors, revealing a troubling and fraudulent pattern.
We are pursuing:
-
A formal complaint with American Express regarding fraudulent chargebacks
-
Legal action against both Webet and Ray Damron, naming Onyx Fire Marketing as a party
-
Public warnings to alert other small businesses to this unethical conduct
This is more than a contract dispute—it’s a predatory business scheme that exploits vendors, especially startups. Ray Damron’s failure to respond confirms his complicity in this act of bad faith.
We strongly warn others to exercise extreme caution when dealing with Ray Damron or Onyx Fire Marketing.
