PayPal PayPal holding our funds without any explanation San Jose California

PayPal has been holding our funds of over $5000 for several months now. Obviously they blocked our account so that we can’t request a check. We called several times without getting an answer to the question what the problem is. When sending them online messages they answered with automated messages which showed their "terms and conditions” Last year and in the previous years we had the same problem but then they would mail out a check after complaining over the phone. Obviously now we have accumulated so much money in our account that they feel that they can’t just let this money go.... We have filed a lawsuit against them in small claims court, obviously the only way how account holding can communicate with them. Even the answer which their attorney filed with the court didn’t explain what the problem is, he even told the court that "Defendant doesn’t owe Plaintiff anything....”. (!!!!!!!). Excuse me - we sold our belongings on eBay for over $5000,- paid 10% to eBay and another 5% to PayPal who is sitting on our money and now they feel like they don’t owe us anything???? We feel like this is theft.
