Ronald McCray who owns RM Construction of Miami (FEI/EIN 37-1486738) was hired to replace my damaged roof with a new roof. The contract was written for over 30k. I later found out that Ronald McCray Falsified information from the start of our business relationship .

Ronald McCray had informed me that the company listed on the contract was his company , United States a*s. Of CDC (FEI/EIN 80-0371295) . When I asked Ronald McCray to verify who owned United States a*s. He had informed me that it was his company and that business name was utilized for Government work that he’s completed in the past. I later found out that United States a*s. Of CDC is not his company , it is a company that is owned by an associate George Howard. During the course of time of Ronald working on our home , George Howard had been to our house working with Ronald. I eventually found out that George Howard and Ronald McCray had an agreement to allow Ronald to use his business name so he could get a portion of the proceeds of the roof contract.

Over the next year or so , I was given many different reasons of why my roof was not completed .  I was told he had to wait on the guy to come out and mop the roof but he was backed up on other jobs. Ronald told me several times that we had past inspections and that everything was fine and it was only a matter of the tile coming in from China. I started getting very suspicious but he told me that it’s part of the process and everyone is backed up in South Florida. I made the mistake of trusting what he told me . In the meantime , I was continually having to pay extra for mistakes Ronald would make .

I was surprised when received a violation notice for the roof . Ronald gave me the impression that all was clear and we were just waiting on the tile to arrive. I really became suspicious at that time And started doing my own research . I found out to my surprise that my roof did not have Ronald McCray on the permit but it had a company named Universal Group Inc .

I reached out to That owner to try to get to the bottom of this and he said he was unaware of the permit . He told me that he had an agent that might be aware of the permitting situation . Once everyone was in agreement that Ronald McCray had put the permit with the help of the agent I became alarmed that we were working with a dishonest contractor .

By July , we were in Hurricane season. I had a tough decision to make . I could either lose the money I already paid Ronald and use a new company or still go after Ronald but use the company he was using to complete the roof. Starting over would mean starting the entire process again . I already spent most of my money for the new roof . I could continue with Universal Group Inc. to finish the roof or start over. Due to the fact that a hurricane was coming to Florida that weekend I really had no choice but to continue on with Universal Group. The owner wrote up a new contract saying that he would finish my roof before hurricane season.  Unfortunately, this became my next nightmare.  I will be sending in a separate complaint on Universal Group Inc.

My roof finally past inspection the following year.

This situation has caused me and my family great financial hardship .

Ronald McCray was paid for the first roof.

Universal Group Inc. was paid again for the second roof .

Enforced insurance for homeowners $5600.

Extra Electricity $1600.

Solar Panel removal and put back on $4600.00.

*Because the insurance group dropped me when I got my new insurance I will have to be paying an extra $2000 a year for the next 2 years.

do not do business with him. He is a con and you won't get your money . He admitted that he took our money and still continues to act as if he will pay it back . We are working on trying to get our money back through tough legal actions but unfortunately it will take some time if we ever get all our funds back. The back ground report we paid for shows he has many open and closed cases of owing other individuals. I just wish we spend the time to do the background check before we starting working with him. I just hope this doesn't happen to anyone else .
