The Russel country trash department didn't even try to notify me that my exempt status was about to expire or renew. They sent a letter demanding payment or I would be arrested taking to court or even go to jail over a garbage bill. But what upsets me the most is I was exempt. I complained to the attorney general office about their bad business practices.
But the manager lied through her teeth about me to the attorney general office. They claim they did notify me by mail which I received nothing or I would have contacted them to get it renewed for another year but they didn't let me after I received the letter. I had to ask help from family to get my bill current so I wouldn't go to jail.
There is no debtors prison but in Phenix city/Russel county there is. The trash used to be with my water bill but they separated from the water & they nothing but crooks & harassers ever since. Because the police are on the business side which is why they treat customers badly in this town. They can do what ever they want.

I thought I was exempt I never received a letter from them. They're a bunch of liars who deny everything but falsely accuse the customer. They let my bill go several months before they sent me the threatening letter to have me arrested. Funny thing they left that part out of their response to my complaint. The attorney general asked them if my complaint was true or false. Well of course they marked false.
But then accused me of being irate and hostile. After they got me upset I installed a doorbell camera because of this lying issue. Then they said we don't want to upset anyone. Well, they sure upset me by threatening me with an arrest warrant to have me arrested over a garbage bill which I was already exempt for the whole year.
They didn't even try to let me get exempt for the next year.

This employee from the Russel county trash company was the hostile one. When he was on my front porch because the trash men were whining about me placing a rock on my trash can to keep animals from tearing my trash up. I made a complaint to the Attorney general about it and their manager lied through her teeth. They knew I was exempt from paying my bill & they still sent me a threatening letter saying I would go to jail.
How convenient they sent it 3 months after my exemption expired. My bill was already 3 months past due which the bill is only $20.00. In phenix city/russel county you do go to prison for unpaid trash bills because of the city's corruptness. You have no idea how corrupt they are until something like this.
The employee wouldn't let me speak to the manager. Who was the one who responded to my complaint & saying all those lies about me being irate and hostile. I did get myself a doorbell camera from Vivint. I also got myself a car dash cam, because I'm tired of being falsely accused.
People don't have to take being abused like this. Then they hold it against the customer because they stick up for themselves. And they don't say thank you or anything when you pay your bill at the window. I don't have to say thank you either.
A family member had to help me catch up on my past due to balance. Russel's country trash department made sure to screw me out of a new exemption. That is how dirty they are in Phenix city. Russel county city and government.
