Through an Instagram social media posting, on May 19, 2020 Shaw Academy offered me free 4-week online course with 30-day trial, took my credit card info, then told me I needed to buy course materials.

I immediately processed a 10 step process on their website requesting cancellation of my account, any free trial, and for my credit card to be erased from their system. This cancellation protocol on their website finally advised me that the only way to cancel my account was to call a telephone number provided with a reference number provided. Over the next 2 days, May 19 and May 20, I call that number 7 times, and each time an automated voice would say someone will be with you, repeatedly for about 3 minutes, and then the automated voice would say someone will call you back at your number, and the call would be disconnected.

I went back on the Shaw Academy website, and wrote customer support requesting, categorically, that my account be cancelled, including the free-trial, and that my credit card be erased from their system. Over two days I received a few auto-generated responses that kept telling me that I did not have to cancel. When I threatened to file business complaints, I received a response from someone named Gomes, telling me that I needed to file a cancellation through their website, which is what leads to a phone system that disconnects me from the call, as I reported above.
