My Experience with Slacktide Development LLC and Brett Fodiman

I am writing this to document and share my personal experience with Slacktide Development LLC and its president, Brett Fodiman. This account reflects what I experienced firsthand and what I later learned through legal and public sources.

In 2024 I invested money into a real estate project managed by Mr. Fodiman through Slacktide Development LLC, with the understanding that the funds would go toward active development of a specific property. Over the course of the following year, my calls, texts, and emails to Mr. Fodiman went unanswered. Despite repeated attempts to get an update, I received no communication or transparency about the project for nearly a year.

After employing legal counsel, I learned that no significant development activity had occurred on the property during that time. According to information reviewed by attorneys, while acting as Manager of the company, Mr. Fodiman caused the company to borrow construction-related funds and placed a mortgage lien on the property, despite the lack of actual progress.  

Further troubling information surfaced: Slacktide Development LLC is now reportedly facing numerous lawsuits and small claims cases in Nantucket District and Superior Courts filed by various contractors and businesses alleging non-payment for services. Brett Fodiman is the middle of a divorce. The company’s main office phone number is currently listed as “temporarily unavailable” and website is down. 

My experience reflects a broader pattern that raises serious concerns about how Slacktide and Mr. Fodiman have conducted business. I believe Mr. Fodiman failed in his fiduciary duties by not maintaining transparent communication, misusing investor funds, and misrepresenting the status of the project. I believe he knew full well his intentions at the time we took my investment and abused my trust.

I am sharing this so that others may proceed with caution, Brett Fodiman is in no way an honest businessman, one should steer clear of doing any type of business with him. He doesn’t pay his subcontractors, he doesn’t respond, he takes zero accountability for his actions. He makes no apology for the lives he is ruining.
