Steam Games - host a marketplace where hackers/thieves have incentive to steal from customer accounts Internet

Steam games is a great company.  At least this is what i thought when i first signed up.  I could return a game in a reasonable time if i didn't like it.  I could wishlist items i like and wait for sales.  Everything seemed good.

I should have known that a gaming service provider that forces you to use their platform for the items you have purchased would be troublesome at some point.

I have spend around 1000$ on games since starting steam.  

One day last week i logged in and found the 54$ i had in my account was gone.  I messaged steam and asked about it.  They responded that it is my responsibility (my fault).  I am careful with passwords and don't share them etc.  

Here is the concept:

If you go to a store and some other people in the store steal your wallet what would you do?

Would you go back to the store?

If you had items purchased already from the store that cost the store money to run what would you do?

Personally, I have learned another lesson with online commerce.  Do not do it at all.  Its better for your mental and physical health to get out and go for a walk or do anything at all in the real world than use any online platform.
