I got one of their units off airbnb... just a short 4 hours later had a family emergency and notified them right away.

They said they don't do refunds and to go through airbnb... Airbnb said that Strip View Suites had set their refund policy to take 50% of my money plus additional fees... and that they would put in a request directly to strip view suites to give me a full refund because it was so absurd to do this just 4 hours after booking...

Strip View Suites did not care... refused to acccept the refund request and is ademant about me losing the money... they keep saying I can try and get my refund through airbnb (and lose the money) or try extenuating circumstances with airbnb when all they have to do is accept the request..

Airbnb finds this so ridiculous that they are advocating on my behalf to Strip View Suites to refund me fully but Strip View Suites does not care.

This is a greedy company that will lie to your face... they can easily grant the refund... airbnb is openly asking them to and they still refuse and lie and say "deal with airbnb we don't do refunds"...

I have proof of the pending request. All they have to do is accept. They refuse.

Lots of things in your rebuttal are incorrect.

1. Airbnb is in discussions with them negotiating a refund for me. Airbnb does not control the refund policy of people who post on their site. I am more then happy to prove this... 

2. There are consumer protections in place for any purchase... 4 hours after a reservation to cancel is almost immediate... this is in fact anamolous.

3. There is no travel insurance option but thank you for devaluing the tragedy that occured... the degree of bias in your response indicates an extreme lack of understanding of the situation and facts.

4. I own multiple airbnb units... there is no point that I or anyone else I have worked with (hundreds of people) would not grant a refund within 4 hours of a booking due to an emergency...

Not sure what you feel you refuted but I have evidence of all of the above.

Based on their refund policy it sounds like you reserved this between 7-14 days in advance. As if it was more than 14 days you would get a full refund, if it was less than 7 you would get no refund.  And this is not really anything outside of many other standards policies of other places.

No, they are not.

Because they don't need to "Advocate" for you, Airbnb controls their site and the companies that list on their site. If this was so egregious All they need to do is kick them off of AirBnb, and you would have your refund in about 15 minutes.

As bad as you are making this situation, the fact is that the policy doesn't say "You get a full refund if you have a good enough reason". I bet you were offered "Travel Insurance". Had you taken that, and your "Emergency" was covered, you would have had your money back.  If your "Emergency" wouldn't even be covered under Travel Insurance, it pretty much says how much of an "Emergency" it is.
