Swift Pest Control Norman Ripped me off and refused to send a valid itemised tax invoice Melbourne Victoria

AVOID THIS COMPANY

I requested an exterminator from Swift pest control as I was hearing pecking noises in my wall. At first, Norman was professional, he believed it was a possum and quoted $350-$380 for possum removal. 

I agreed on these terms and an exterminator came the next day.

I had recently had foot surgery and I couldn’t go outside with the exterminator so my partner went in my place. The exterminator found a bird’s nest in my wall and removed it, my partner was outside watching everything. The exterminator did not communicate anything to my partner, he did not communicate what he was doing or what the costs were going to be. When he was finished, he wrote an invoice which he did not physically give to me, instead he took a photograph of the the invoice and texted it to me. The invoice was $660 in total and did not make sense. I was charged $300 for nest removal, $150 for termite spray and $150 for spray smell. When I was paying I asked for a proper receipt and he said I would receive one within a few hours. I paid in good faith believing that this was an honest Company and I would receive a valid itemised invoice with correct information outlining what I had paid for. I never received anything. So I called up the company and spoke to Norman. I asked him for an explanation and a proper receipt, he agreed he would send the receipt however I never received it. I started to find it very suspicious that they refused to send me a PDF itemised tax invoice as a photograph of one is not acceptable for tax purposes. 

I contacted Norman again and told him the costs had never been explained to me or my partner beforehand and I had never agreed to paying $660, he told me that the exterminator had told everything to my partner (which he didn’t) and when I disagreed he said my partner was a liar! I told him if I didn’t receive the receipt I would take the matter further. He then became aggressive and started yelling at me, telling me I was threatening him and that he was not going to send me a receipt. Norman continued to send me abusive msgs and even said I was dodgy because I had been the one to pay, this is 2025, my “husband” is not the man of the house, and he insisted that the invoice I received (a photograph) was sufficient. In the end I had to block his number because of the abuse. 

This company took advantage of me and charged me outrageous prices, they did not communicate to me what any of the costs were going to be and they have refused to email me a PDF itemised tax invoice. This experience has taught me a valuable lesson not to trust anyone at face value and that not all companies are honest.
