I came to a dental office expecting to get dental work from a dentist. The dentist indicated he would be doing the job, and the next thing you know, an assistant is cementing in a horrible temporary mouthpiece, which has caused my post to get loose. This is clear bait and switch, and it can be verified by another dentist that I went to see when they wouldn't give me the decency of a phone call.

This temporary should have been one you could put in and take out if you know the proper way to care for your post and oral health in general. When I mentioned this to the assistant, she replied, "If only we could."

The work the assistant did caused more damage than good. I was in pain, got an infection, and the piece allowed food in—not only the temporary but the final piece. She is in no way qualified. All this was documented via a panoramic scan I got at another highly respected dental office.

The front desk girls were rude, condescending, and pros at overcharging. Even the best dentists don't charge $400 for a basic cleaning; you are far from the best. This is all documented via text.  When I alerted them to the horrible treatment from the assistant and that I paid for a dentist, they got snippy and said she's as good.  When I requested a call from the dentist a second time, they got more antagonistic.

I went to another dentist, who advised me not to proceed with this subpar dental work. I documented everything with photos and X-rays. I was adamant about not returning to the assistant, and Emily at the front told me to come in an hour early to see the dentist.  Next thing you know I'm in the chair and the dangerous assistant is over exraying me, squirting me in the face with the water, not poking but stabbing me in my gums and lastly, dropping tools on the ground that were on the way to my mouth.  I asked for her name, but it was not given.  I highly suspect that none of your team is on your website.

7. When the assistant put the permanent in my mouth, she was shocked as the piece was so far off in shape and color.. She asked me if I was going to whiten my teeth, as the piece was five shades too white.  She also tried to make excuses for why the shape was not even close to what it should be.  This indicated a severe lack of experience.  She insulted my teeth, saying they were old and worn - she referenced a new bridge I had done the year before.  Rude and incompetent, trying to cover up the nightmare work I received.

The dentist comes in and immediately begins blaming us for this mistake, saying that I was going to get veneers, and that has changed. He repeats this twice.  He was trying to upsell me with veneers, and since he wasn't doing his job, this changed as I needed other work, which he should have identified earlier.  He wouldn't own it and denies trying to upsell me.

I got a cold sore for the first time after visiting your office.  Dropping oral tools on the ground could have something to do with the general cleanliness of this establishment.  I've notified the health department.
I was traumatized when I got tricked and lied to upon my last visit.  I was caused much suffering.  I'm feeling ill, having to further the trauma of getting justice.

I paid them $6,271.00 and received nothing but pain, suffering, a cold sore, and disrespect. I've asked for a refund, and they said they would if I complied with not making a truthful post about my experience.  It appears they were trying to trick me into coming to their office again, which is really scary.  When I let the office know I would not be coming there, but explained how it could be taken care of alternatively (send agreement via email), they quit communicating.  Seems so sketchy.

This is not ethical. A dental assistant shall not start administering the gases or adjusting the flow unless instructed by the dentist, who shall be at the patient's chairside during this implementation. He was not present.

Tamer Shalaby at Dana Point Smiles is a scam artist who does not uphold the law or patient satisfaction. They bribe people for good reviews, which is also unethical. They are being taken to court, reported to the Dental Board, Yelp, and now Ripoff Report.
