On 4/22/19, BPL group entered into a contract with MAI regarding marketing of the movie, “The Curse of Buckout Road.” MAI stated their purpose as building a “massive thriving database;” "Our world class conversion optimization techniques ensure all digital marketing tactics used will deliver a true return on your investment.” MAI billed BPL $74,998 for services.

On 5/7/19, BPL group paid $29,960 to MAI. MAI wrote, “We are starting on everything today." BPL was engaged with Thomas (MAI) towards their goal of constructing a website and generally designing a strategy. MAI progress was slow with website technical issues and missed marketing calls. On 6/24/19, BPL requested that Thomas focus on getting the marketing started.

In a weekly marketing call later that day, it was relayed to MAI that the sign-up on the website was apparently still not functioning properly. It took him approximately one month to get the website operating properly to allow the social media links. Thomas (MAI) had sent a (new) crowdfunding pitch to be discussed.

BPL inquired how to get a database of 10,000. BPL questioned his crowdfunding strategy as they didn’t need the money. Thomas (MAI) mentioned in the call that he didn’t think the crowdfunding would even work. On 7/3/19, BPL sent MAI an email requesting a final expense report. On 7/10/19, Thomas (MAI) claimed he would return $4,793.93.

On 7/10/19, MAI returned only $3,349.62. BPL is demanding that the additional $1,443.33 be returned. A complaint has been filed against Mai Mai Pty, Ltd. with the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission).
