As a customer who purchased $6,800 in coverage policies for 2 vehicles in April 2023, I've been trying to reach them since June of 2024 to request a cancellation per their contract agreement. They rarely answer calls, and if they do, they put you on hold and then it just hangs up after exactly one hour or says "technical error" after exactly 30 minutes. It doesn't matter what department you select: sales, claims, etc. They do not respond to emails. And the email they previous had to request cancellations (cancellation@totalautoprotect.com) now kicks back as not found. Numerous complaints have been filed on the Better Business Bureau website (https://www.bbb.org/us/de/wilmington/profile/auto-warranty-plans/total-auto-resellers-0251-92019726) that they don't answer the phone, don't respond, and repeatedly deny legitimate claims. The same feedback is shown on BestCompany’s website (https://bestcompany.com/car-warranty/total-auto-protect). They also appear to operate under various names: Total Auto Resellers, TotalAuto, Total Auto-Protect or Total Auto Services LLC. They never responded to my own formal BBB complaint, nor to the 10 times I tried to call, nor the 5 emails I sent. I have filed formal complaints with both Delaware and Wyoming State Attorneys General but this company is no longer listed in these states. I also filed a formal report with the FTC. At the time I bought their policies, they listed a bunch of big name “partners” on their website. Companies like Maaco, Aamco, Pep Boys, Meineke, Firestone, Goodyear, Satellite, Midas and Big O. Interestingly, those are no longer shown, so those companies may have caught on to their scam. Everything about this company seems illegitimate.

At this point, I am having to accept the idea that I have lost my money because I will never even be able to file a claim with them even if I wanted to keep the policies.

Don't Waste Your Time With The BBB-BS

AUTHOR: Irv. - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, March 16, 2025

The BBB with all their phoney baloney is NOT part of ANY government or law enforcement entity. The BBB-BS has absolutely ZERO POWER to force any business to do anything or enforce any laws. Those phoney baloney BBB-BS "ratings from the BBB-BS were PURCHASED from the BBB-BS.Thats all the BBB-BS does is SELL those phoney baloney fake ratings and try to DECEIVE the public into thinking they are something there are not! That's why they constantly refer to themselves as "the bureau" as if they were part of government which they are not. Your best bet is to follow the exact procedures for cancelation which is usually done in writing. You send them the cancelation notice by certified mail, return receipt.
