I went to sign a lease with the Quail Creek apartments located at 912 N. 72nd Street in Kansas City, KS 66112 around October 2015. At the time, this company was the management company. I chose a lower level unit at the 7166 Armstrong building that was in the back. I was put in unit A.

At the time, the management company knew that these lower level units were subjected to raw sewage coming in from the manhole that would submerge the entire units in raw sewage. The entire hallway was filled up with sewage. They made several federal health violations by not evacuating the building. All they ever did was have a carpet company come out and soak up the sewage and put fans on the carpets.

When this happened, it caused me to lose two days of work. We never were compensated for the damages the sewage caused. The sewage ruined our belongings. Our rent was never reduced, they never offered to move us to other units or pay for relocation. I started getting mysteriously ill. My symptoms matched ones you would get when exposed to black mold.

They were endangering public health and endangering children. The city of Kansas City covered up their mistakes. I couldn't take it anymore and put in writing that I was breaking my lease due to the unit being uninhabitable. When I left, I left the unit pristine. This management company put on my credit report that I owed them $3000.00 and that is an outright lie.
