Complaint Review: The UPS Store #1053 - Chicago IL
The UPS Store #1053 Privately run store by owner Mr. Katz Damaged valuable package shipping it overseas and although it was insured, they are refusing refund or reimbursement. Chicago IL
I sent a package out from this store, which was being sent overseas. I packaged the item myself but left the box open so the sales associate could see the item and packaging. I asked if I needed to purchase any additional packaging and was told no and reassured the package was properly packaged.
He secured the package and used additional tape. In retrospect, I was told he should have suggested to put the tube inside another tube and then added " fragile" stickers to the package. He did not.
The item arrived overseas completely damaged. It appears to have been crushed! This was due to both the associates poor advise and not ensuring the package was in fact packaged properly, after all he is the expert. Also UPS employees mishandled the package along the way. They do not want to take responsibility for their errors. Although, I paid extra to insure the item, UPS is stating the package was not properly packaged by the store. They are not taking responsibility for mishandling and recklessly damaging the package along the way. It left my hands in perfect condition. I am waiting for a refund for my shipping costs and to be reimbursed for the value of the item. I blame the store as well for not getting more involved, taking responsibility and expediting my refund.
I have sent similar items in the same exact packaging and they arrived unscathed and in perfect condition. I am requesting a refund and reimbursement for the item.
I want to be reimbursed for the value of fine art print that was insured for $395.00 as well as be refunded the shipping charges of $139.30, for a total of $534.00
