I was looking into a small apartment complex to rent one of the units.  The person who said he was the owner lives in California.  The unit is in Bullhead City, Arizona.  Hmmm.  So I began to check it out, as anyone would. I, too, fell for the $1.00 come-on. Once I got the report, I realized it didn't have the current owner's name.

That's all I wanted to know, and it wasn't there.  I contacted the online people (like David from an earlier report, I don't recall where I went online to get the report), and Brian did get me the info that I wanted. Remember that at no time was USHomeData ever mentioned.  At no time was a charge of $18.95 mentioned, though the very next morning, 18 Sept 2019, it was there.

Am I upset about it?  Somewhat.  And I say that only because I did get what I wanted.  Had the company been straight with me about the $18.95, AS A ONE-TIME CHARGE, I probably would have gone ahead with it anyway.  Now, Brian, as the manager you helped me get the owner's name.  I actually commend you for that aid.  I am reaching out to you now to make d**n sure I am NOT charged again.  Shut it down.

Update - Really?

AUTHOR: William - (United States)

POSTED: Friday, September 20, 2019

In corresponding with the original people at PropertyRecord.Com, I was told that at the time for payment information there was an option for an upgrade for $18.95, and that I may have accidentally chosen it.  Really? How does one accidentally click on an option, without knowing what is happening?

I would have  known. Same thing happened roughly a year ago, with a lawyer.  All I was to pay was $1.49, to help with costs of communication, or words to that effect.  Boom - $19.95 on my card next morning.  Bottom line - if any of us reading these reports views some small amount to get you to give payment - DO NOT CONTINUE.

Best to contact your credit card co to cancel

From your post, it sounds like one of those subscription type companies that will charge a monthly fee. They are scammers from what I have seen.

I'm not associated with them at all, but have seen these type of informational companies take advantage of consumers for years. The best way to cancel the service is to first contact them through the contact info on your credit card statement (usually a phone number) and then follow up immediately with your credit card customer service department. It's common for the creditor to tell you they will cancel the service and then they fail to cancel it. That's why I suggest following up with your credit card customer service right away. Once they take the fee's you don't get them back. Good luck in getting them to cancel your service (I truly mean this). It takes a while IME.
