FRAUD / SCAM ALERT - DO NOT GIVE VARSITY TUTORS YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION.  I recently discovered fraudulent and unauthorized charges on my personal credit card from Varsity Tutors.  For the record, I signed my son up for some tutoring for a calculus class he was struggling in during his winter quarter in college.  I was referred to Varsity tutors for this assistance and signed him up for a specific number of hours to be used in March of 2023 for the amount of $579. This tutoring was needed only for a calculus class that ended at the end of March 2023.  He used those tutoring hours in March, with his last tutoring session being held on March 23rd, 2023.  At no time did I agree to recurring payments and on-going services, either verbally or in writing.  However, I recently discovered that Varsity Tutors continued to charge my credit card on both April 8th and May 8th for a recurring payments of $579 per month, totaling $1158.  I was shocked to discover this and contacted the Varsity Tutors on May 11th to dispute these recurring charges.

I was notified on May 15th that Varsity Tutors declined to credit these charges back to my credit card.  Their reasoning was that I signed up for a on-going subscription, which I didn't.  To be clear, I was very specific in my request for needing these hours for his calculus class only and that the class ended at the end of March 2023.  On March 29th, I was contacted by the account manager, named Ashley, at Varsity Tutors about the tutor and the status of my son’s class.  I informed the Ashley at that time that my son failed the calculus class and that he would not be needing tutoring services from their company any longer.  I was assured by Ashely that they understood my concerns and desire not to proceed with any further tutoring, as the class was over and my son would not be taking calculus again for the foreseeable future.

I paid for the March services up front and there were no services provided in April and May, and the services they provided in March clearly did not meet mine or my son's needs or expectations, yet they still refused to provide a credit.  This seems to be a pattern for this company based on recent reviews I just discovered.  To make matters worse, they do a hard pitch to sell you these subscriptions even after you explain their services are not needed any longer.  I even got another call after my complaint and denial of reversing the charges, trying to sell me again from the same account manager that caused this issue.  Her name was Ashley and she refused to provide her last name.  BUYER BEWARE - FRAUD / SCAM ALERT!!
