Wag has been known to screw over Walkers! Ive been a walker with Wag for 7 months or so and ive walked well over 500 dogs and was given 5 stars. Everything was great and I even commended how good wag customer service. And then one day they stabbed me in the back with no regard for me, someone who walked many dogs in NYC and did a great service for wag the company, dog owners, and dogs.

I chose to walk this one dog named Cooper, I looked at the notes and I saw many other walkers complain that the dog tries to escape from the leash by sneaking his head through it. With this in mind I held on tightly but the dog kept pulling and he slipped out of the leash! Luckily he came back to me 5 seconds later and I put the leash back on.

I told the owner this and said I am going to return your dog because his leash is too loose for him and I dont want him to escape again. Somehow how the owner didn't know and said shes never had a problem like this before Why didn't wag tell her this!?

I sent her the screenshot of atleast 4 other walkers complaining on the notes that dog tries to sneak out of the leash. I gave the dog back and she wanted part of her money back from Wag since I had to end the walk early. I told her no problem I will contact Wag to get you a partial refund.

Next thing I know the suspend my account and a week later deactivate it! The customer service team all of a sudden was unresponsive, unhelpful, and uncaring! I tried to appeal but they still upheld that I would be forever deactivated. How was scenario my fault? I tried to help!

I lost so much money from this because I make around $1000 a month side money from Wag and there no other good competing apps in NYC to walk dogs!

Not a RipOff

AUTHOR: Robert - (United States)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 10, 2019

You took this "walk" knowing that the dog walks really fast, and is known to get out of it's leash. So you knew of the issues and still took the assignment, but based on your narrative you did not appear to take the proper percautions.

You say you held on tightly to the leash. But the dog isn't known to get the leash out of the handlers hand...the dog is known to wiggle it's way out of the collar. So you could hold onto the leash with super-glue, but it isn't going to keep the dog from getting free from the collar. You also mention that you almost broke your leg due to the dog going fast up stairs, but again you knew of this dog's temperment yet didn't seem prepared or able to handle the dog.

The other item is that you said you showed comments from "at least" 4 walkers. Not sure how you determined that, but again it was only 4. How many times has this dog been walked? Perhaps the owner is right, perhaps no one ever said anything to her before.

Now, you say that they are uncaring, but that is only from your perspective. They are the ones who are ultimatley responsible for the safety of the dog. If they have a walker(regardless of reason) who let a dog get away, you become a higher risk.

As what if that dog got away and was killed running through the street? Sure you would feel horrible, but they would be financially responsible. The only reason you mentioned this to them is because the owner wanted a partial refund, they may be thinking...how many times have you not mentioned an incident?

If they are the only successful app for walking dogs the odds are they can be very selective, and perhaps they are the only one successful app because they have higher standards.  Where because of this, and just like a real job, they can decide who and who they do not want working for them. Keeping only the best of the best and unfortunatly that isn't you in this case.

Perhaps you should try again in a few weeks to get reactivated.  If not with 500 walks under your belt, perhaps you may think about doing it independently with some of your previous clients.

Good Luck...
