When we initially met this couple, our initial reaction was they want to do good. After agreeing to the outrageous deposit of 75% up front and payment was to be due upon completion but Robert conned my husband into believing our quote didn’t include one side of our fencing, which it did, and had my husband write him a check for the balance (essentially what would be due once the job was complete). My radar was set off when he requested additional funds and the agreed upon job was no where near completion. Then I began asking questions.
Why weren't the t-posts placed every 100' like the quote stated? Why were additional 'wash-outs' being created that weren't real 'wash-outs'? Why were some of the tposts being clipped with 3 clips, some 4, and some 5? Why didn't the 5' goat fence line up on the tposts? Immediately Robert was on the defense. I simply asked for an accounting of what I had paid for. This was never received. I began all communication in writing at this point. We were supposed to have a meeting in person, but Robert didn’t show. Then he removed his equipment from the property with a response to my email, that we clearly were unhappy with the work. I gave him the opportunity to have my concerns in writing, even gave him the opportunity to address my concerns in person or per my email to "respectfully walk away" but then he began attempting to extort us for more money. Threats to remove materials or tear down work (which is illegal). Threats of putting a lien on our home, when he didn’t have a proper contract in order to do so. After some silence I decided to review their business through the platform with which I had found them, Facebook. I had asked for previous references, was told they could provide, but never did receive one. The 75% up front? We were informed he had to pay his workers, but there are no workers. His wife appeared to take photos for social media. Touting on the largest fence job they’ve done, then posting with the new UTV purchased for the large job. Then I found they had blocked me from their business profile, and removed their reviews. I had wished I had a review to read prior to committing to any business dealings with them so I want to have a record of how they treated us. My husband is an 80 yr old man, who didn't deserve to trust this couple only to be treated as we were. I will let all my friends, coworkers, and anyone who asks know how they worked with us.
