000webhost.com herobo.com Violated my right to free speech, the sunshine law, the open information act, and the right to scrutinize a public figure, Internet

About a year and a half back, a website was started on 000webhost.com, a herobo.com (subdomain) site. For the last year, I took over the site and have been maintaining it without any problems whatsoever. Recently, the site disappeared, with no warnings. When I contacted with them, all they could say was that I must have been in violations of their terms of service, except they could not tell me which rules, if any, were broken.

I was willing to move the site and asked them for a backup copy of my site, and all they could say is 'it's gone, don't break our terms of service next time'... Again, what terms of service did I break exactly? I was never given an opportunity to 'fix' or 'change' any content that they thought violated their terms.

The site was mainly information gathered from the open information act, in sort of a way to put a big picture together, which should have been protected by freedom of speech, the open information act itself, Florida's sunshine law (as this was information from the state of Florida), and the right to scrutinize public figures.

What I believe happened is this: Apparently, one of the public figures (we won't say any names but cough D cough A cough V cough I cough D cough F cough L cough A cough G cough L cough E cough R, former Alachua County, Florida government official) didn't handle scrutiny very well.

So, he sends a cease and desist order to 000webhost.com, and without verifying the information we had to be all public information, freely available on the Internet and through the open information act, they took the site down. I'll say this again: ALL of the information we had was freely and publicly available to anyone and everyone - we just put it all together in one place.

Let this be a warning to anyone who is considering a free webhost, or any host for that matter. Always back up your information and have a plan B. DO NOT join 000webhost.com.
