This letter is to inform your company of a complaint against Ken's Carpet Cleaning of Broward County.
I had seen his add in the Palm Beach County Pennysaver yesterday and called the number listed in the add.
The add stated that he Steam cleaned carpet for $9.00 per room. I spoke with a gentleman and said I had a three room area that needed to be cleaned and I had seen his add for $9.00 a room. He said that was correct and I asked to set up an appointment for that service to be provided. He scheduled my home for today between 11:00 am and 1:00pm. I then called my neighbor to tell him about it and he said that would be great if he could do his tomorrow also. I called back Ken's Carpet Cleaning and explained my neighbor had only one room and bedroom with carpeting and a 6 x 8 area rug to be cleaned. He informed me they had a $29.95 minimum, I said that would be fine and we set up an appointment for service for my neighbor to be done after mine was finished.

At 10:15am this morning a man knocked on my door, rather tall with light hair, big guy. He told me he was from the Carpet Cleaning company and I said you're early, but come on in. He came in and I expressed that I only wanted the basic cleaning because we plan to put wood floors down in the near future. He then told me, my carpet was filthy and required DEEP cleaning and that would cost $89.95. I replied I did not want that, just the basic would fit my needs. He said he can't clean the carpet for the $9.00 a room it wouldn't pay him to do that. I said, well, that's false advertising, you need to do what you stated in your add. He said no, I'm leaving and if you do anything to ruin my business your I'll put a lien on your house. And then as he was leaving he called me an idiot! He left very rapidly in an unmarked (no printing ) van and sped out of the parking lot. I was on the phone with my neighbor downstairs, who's house he was also supposed to clean and asked him to get the plate number, but the man left the lot too quickly. I was visibly shaken and felt very intimidated. I don't feel this is how anyone should run a business, especially a service business where dealing with the public is your livelihood.

Thank you for your attention in this matter. I would appreciate any follow-up information you could provide. I am also writing a complaint to the Better Business Bureau in our area.
