What you Blockx Paints says rings true as I bought a painting from 1st-art-gallery that I was going to get professionally framed but the painting was so poor I decided to stretch and frame it myself. After handling the painting while trying to stretch it, my fingers turned white, see my photo, and I got abdominal pain and cramping so I went to the hospital. The doctor conducted a blood lead test and said that I had absorbed through my fingers over 10 micrograms per deciliter of lead. He prescibed a course Chelation therapy to remove the high levels of lead in my body. 1st-art-gallery denied any involvement and insisted that their Chinese artists used had used Blockx paints. Really the government should ban these paintings just like they banned Chinese toys with high lead content.

Lead Poisoning from Handling a 1st-art-gallery Painting Made from Chinese Paint

AUTHOR: Blockx Paints - (Belgium)

POSTED: Friday, April 08, 2016

We are sorry to hear of your lead poisoning through handling a 1st-art-gallery reproduction painting made from Chinese oil paint and we hope that you make a full recovery, Trin. When our lab techinicians tested the oil paint in a 1st-art-gallery reproduction painting, they found it to have 8,000 parts per million of lead. This is very high and to safely handle a painting made from cheap Chinese oil paint, you need to wear rubber gloves and a face mask that closely covers the mouth and nose and does not allow paint particles to enter in. After handling the 1st-art-gallery painting, you need to dispose of the rubber gloves and face mask securely and wash your hands in running water, scrubbing vigourously, for at least five minutes. Blockx Paints do not export to Xiamen, China where 1st-art-gallery makes its oil paintings reproductions.
