I received a call from a man who called him self Daniel Lewis from a (626)407-2152 number. I didn't answer and he left a VERY threatening message saying he was a lawyer and that its a very time sensitive issue, I need to have my attorney contact him as soon as possible. And if i choose not to contact him he wishes me good luck.

I immediately got scared and called him back. He said I was being sued by 1st national bank for an unpaid payday loan. There were 3 counts against me, and I could go to jail. He then went on to read an affadavit about my court case. I did not understand most of what he said because of his very heavy accent. He told me the only way I could get out of this is if I settled the amount owed, which was around $750. He said I needed to fax a paper to him, saying I want to settle this debt, and then give him my credit card number and permission for them to charge it.

I got online and researched this company and saw all these rip off reports. When I didn't fax him the paper or give him my credit card number he called 7 times within 20 minutes of eachother. I finally answered and asked who this payday loan was through and when it was issued. He couldn't answer and said if I am refusing to pay it I better be ready for the cops knocking at my door, and to have an attorney ready.

The scary part is he had a lot of information on me. My name, address, phone number, and the last four of my social security number. I called the Federal Trade Commission and reported the activity.

Has anyone had any problems after letting them know you know it's a scam?
