This is a credit card company that targets high school and college students. They issue credit cards with high available credit to students that are full time students with no jobs, no source of income are relying on parents for their full support.

After hooking the student they charge a very high interest rate, high late charges and should you be late with a payment they will call everyone that is listed on your profile and harass them demanding that they give them information to do a check by phone.

This is after you have received information from them that their computers have been compromised and that your personal information may have been compromised and that they are issuing a replacement credit card for your safety. They also want to charge you an extra fee when you give them the check by phone information (a processing fee).

No, this card is an absolute scam. Consider the advertising. The first $250 is interest free. That's their big thing. The only problem is that if you hold a balance, even under the $250 interest free portion, then you are charged a monthly service fee of $2.50 for an "annual rate" of more than 12%. That's false advertising.

Second, the card is marketed to college aged kids. As a representative of this group I only make online payments. Rent is about the only thing I write a check for. This company charges $9.00 for an online payment. Most companies make online payments free.

The reason for the fee is to make people mail in their payment so it has the chance to get a late fee. And speaking of late fees. If you do get a late fee, first financial bank usa's response is to increase your credit limit.

Tell me what other bank increases their risk exposure when a client is becoming more of a risk? This is a company with which I would urge people not to do business. Avoid them at all costs. It is one headache you can avoid.

Simply extending a credit card offer to someone is not a "rip off". If it was, I'm ripped off about 500 times a month with the amount of offers I get. The terms and agreements on these cards are implicitly spelled out within the offer, and the students have to Physically accept the offer and USE THE CARD. It may be morally defunct, or ethically challenged, but it's not a rip off.

There is no difference between this type of offer and payday loans or high rate credit cards extended towards people of low means or bad credit. If you read what you are signing up for and only use the card prudently and buy what you can pay for, it can be a great builder of credit. And I'd go back to the parents and say it is their responsibility to teach children to respect money and spend within their means.
