Went in to buy glasses (progressive lenses). Told salesman price was an issue & that I was there for the buy one get one free special.  Chose 2 different colored frames.

Salesman quoted me $200 for BOTH pair, starts talking to me about transitional lenses. When I asked him how much more it would be to put the transitionals in 1 pair, clear in the other, he does some figuring & tells me it will be an additional $28, $228 total. I told him to go ahead & put the transitionals in one pair.

The salesman walked away for a minute and when he returned, he put a paper in front of me & said "just sign here that I took your money". Never went over any price details with me after he came up with his totals on his calculator.

I went into the store a few hours later to pick up my glasses, & only 1 pair was ready. I asked about the 2nd pair & everyone acted confused. I was asked how many pair I purchased & I said 2. The girl helping me to me I only purchased 1. We went back & forth a couple times, then she called the salesman, David, over & asked him. He said (without ever looking at me) 1 pair. Again I corrected them and said that I had bought 2.

I sat for a good while going over everything with the girl. She was very condescending.  THIS is when the details of what I had paid for were gone over - AFTER I had already paid. She claimed that they can't give stuff away, but they would "give" me the second pair for an additional $70, lowest they could do.  I was not willing to accept this & decided I would just return the ones they made. There was NOTHING on the receipt stating so, but I was told they had a no cash refund policy.

I returned the next day asking to speak with the District Manager, Mark Mastrangelo, but was told he was off that day. I then spoke with another gentleman who told me he would be seeing the DM the next day & that either he or the DM would call me.

The District Manager called as promised, but was an arrogant, condescending jerk. He insists, even though he wasn't even in the store the day I ordered & paid for my glasses, that the salesman went over the paper in detail (he didn't), that I knew what I was getting (really?), but that he would be happy to "give" me my second pair for an additional $50 (remember the first day when the lowest they could go was an additional $70?) IF I had a coupon I could bring in.

The fact that the DM was so sure of the facts of a transaction that took place when he was away from the store on his day off makes me believe their sales people are trained to rip customers off & that this is a normal & acceptable practice for this business. I have heard from others in the couple days since that they, too, have had similar experiences.
