So, I had applied for one of those 'Free' Bahama cruise trips. The registry looked legit enough; it was at a nice restaurant that I frequent, so I figured why not give it a try? Well, I registered, and a few weeks later got a phone call that I had won! Dazed in the temporary high of winning a free cruise trip to the Bahamas, I stupidly gave the 5th Avenue Vacations receptionist my credit card info...you know, just for administration fees. After all, nothing is really 'free', right? Still I thought, '$99.98 per person for a 5 day 4 night cruise; that's not a bad deal!'.
After a few hours I flicked off the 'moron' part of my brain, and wised up. I checked out this company online, and I couldn't even find their website because all that popped up was BBB fraud alerts and complaints from other duped people such as myself. After reading all these horror stories about customers being charged outrageous fees when they actually booked their vacations through 5th Avenue, I decided to cancel my 'administration' fee. I first contacted my credit card company, and had them remove the pending charges from 5th Avenues. I then emailed 5th Avenue and told them I was canceling the fee, and they should not contact me or send me any propaganda.
I checked my credit card the next day, and lo and behold, 5th Avenue had tried again to charge me, and they succeeded! I called their number and spoke with a receptionist and told her I wanted to cancel my trip and administration fees. She said, 'Okay, let me transfer you to my supervisor'. After waiting 10 minutes, she transferred me alright. She transferred me to another customer!!! This other customer and I spoke for a few minutes and figured out that we were being given the run-around. While I was speaking to this other frustrated customer, I received another call, which went to my voice mail. Guess what? It was a supervisor, 'Andrea Julianna', that sounded all too happy to help me cancel my vacation and administration fees! She left me a phone number (which was different from the one she called from) to call her back. The phone number she gave me was: 305-704-3611. I called it, and it was a disconnected line! I called Andrea back at the caller ID number, and it was the company's main line, which I had called at the start. As you can see, One can become entrapped in this vicious cycle and get absolutely no where.
This story has a happy ending for me. I contacted my credit card company and told them the entire scenario. They refunded my account the lost $98.99, and they are attempting to retrieve the funds themselves from 5th Avenue Vacations. My credit card company has issued a fraud alert for these people, so no more transactions from 5th Avenue vacations will ever be charged to my account. God bless my credit card company!
Do not be fooled by these people. I don't know if 5th Avenue actually books and sends people on Caribbean cruises or not. But from my brief, miserable experience, they are total FRAUDS!!! Do not get involved with these people!! And tell everyone you know to stay away from them! Tomorrow, I am going to the restaurant manager that was harboring the 5th Avenues free Vacation stand, tell them my story, and ask that they remove the advertisement.
If you read anything positive about this company, it is very likely that it is from someone who works there!! Don't be fooled! Search the internet for yourself and you will find the truth!
