We were contacted by the Fraud Prevention Service of my wife's Visa card, alerting us to suspicious activity on her card, which was an attempted charge from a company about which they had received numerous complaints. The charge was for a health supplement product. It turns out we had ordered nothing from the company, and they have cancelled her card and she will be getting a new one. I then reviewed our online statement, and found that a previous charge for $49.95 had gone through on 9/2/2014, and the company was listed as "8885294329.COM". I called the number, and they said that they are a "service company" that handles charges for more than 2000 companies. They said that our charge was for, guess what: a health supplement product. At first the representative said they were removing her account from their system, but offered no refund. Then when I said I would challenge the charge with our bank, he put me on hold to "talk to his supervisors". He came back and said he would give me a refund, then immediately said it didn't go through, and that we would need to wait 7-10 days then call back. I immediately called our bank, and have begun the process of challenging the charge and getting a credit for the fraudulent charge.
