9round Fitness Charged cancellation fees despite contract

To whom it may concern, 

I had signed up with 9round during the summer special, which included a free month to month cancellation fee. I had moved in August, and was still being charged by 9round in Appleton, WI. I called as soon as I discovered this after my move to Seattle, WA, but by then I had already been charged almost $300. I explained the situation, that I had been moving throughout the month of August across the country, and was hoping to end my membership and be refunded fees. I called Breanna, the store manager, and was assured that I would be credited as well as everything would be closed. 

Today I received an email, and a charge of $144.00 for late fees, cancellation fees, etc. I immediately called the Appleton location, got Breanna, and she said that “there is nothing she can do about the fees,” which I didn’t even know I was accruing, as I had assumed she had closed out all charges and accounts, as she had assured me this in early October. 

I am extremely disappointed by this situation, and I believe these charges are unwarranted, and I should have been told that not everything was, as Breanna put it, “taken care of.” The fact that she was able to assure me I wouldn’t be charged due to the summer sign up policy, and then went on to charge me an obscene amount to someone who doesn’t even live in the state, is appalling. 

These charges and the way that Breanna has handled this situation is terrible.
