I was lured to this company by an ad reading, "Management Training Program, earn great money with tremendous advancement opportunity." So, like alot of other people I bit on the dangling line. I went in for my interview with Justin Roy the "owner" of the company. He is a fast talking shyster from New York.

Told me of the opportunity to own my own business in six to nine months. He also told me I would be making six figures in that time. I agreed to come back for my "day of O" to get a feel for the marketing aspect of the company. I arrived for my observation and went out with a guy and a girl.

We proceeded to the territory we were working in that day and I observed how they did their thing. It seemed fairly easy to persuade people to "pick up our stuff". After arriving back at the office I was asked to start the next day. When I arrived at the office the next morning, I walked into "atmosphere" to everyone doing their practice pitch.

I was coached what to say and how to say it. I even questioned about the product we were promoting. Was this cheap looking lantern really going to be sold in Dicks Sporting Goods or Cabellas for 60 bucks, or this remote control car is really 40 bucks at Radio Shack. BULLS%$T because I actually went into a Radio Shack when the car was supposed to be there and I showed them what it looked like and they told me "Radio Shack would not sell something of that nature for 5 dollars."

So here I am telling people who work hard for their money a bunch of bold faced lies to better myself. I DON'T THINK SO. I was raised better than that. All I see now are a bunch of 19-25 year olds with no lives or morals, listening to gangster rap to motivate themselves into ripping people off.

I am sorry I fell into that crowd because all they do is prey on people who only value material possessions. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY and anyone who tells you how great the opportunity is. IT'S ALL A BUNCH OF CRAP

FYI- I dont work for the business anymore, nor do I talk to Justin. I don't have your number anymore, email me (((Email Redacted)))
I really would like to hear from you, how has everything been?

As for my previous rebuttal, whatever- I had to protect my image too for my job's sake. I'm not saying everything you said are lies, everything is pretty much right on point. I hope things are going well, get in touch with me!

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Hey Jackie, how goes it?

AUTHOR: Don't Be Fooled - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 12, 2008

I was wandering around the internet as I do now from time to time, mainly b/c I actually have some spare time now that I'm not out running around the streets of HBG, BMore, or God knows where for all hours of the day and night trying to "Get Excited" about our next great *cough* promotion *cough* but I digress... I came across yet another report about Innovage on this site and I feel obligated to respond.

Let me start off by saying that this is nothing personal. I always liked going out in the field with you and I'm not trying to bash the "business". I really learned alot about myself in my time there, most importantly the self confidence in knowing that if I can do that job for as long as I did, I can do anything.

That being said, anyone that works there for 3 weeks or more, as you stated Sean did, knows by then that Innovage compleatly and knowingly misrepresents itself as a company hired by big retail chains and other "Fortune 500" companies in order to retain "Days of O". Anyone who can hang on long enough to make leader will most likely be told by Justin or whatever "owner" there is at that moment, that the business is all about "slinging s**t in the streets" but all you have to do is teach 3 more people to do it and "get out of the field" just as I was.

To quote you: "Our guys to (sic) B2B Sales and offer the products at a promotional price. (40%-50% off) before they hit stores, to build brand name loyalty or to sell overstock product for our clients.

C'mon now... The products supplied to Justin are easily available to anyone and in no way are they associated with any of the retail stores we are taught to couple them with. In fact, most of the time I can find them on Ebay cheaper than you guys run around selling them door to door for. I'll never forget the time I tried to sell a bunch of binoculars to some guy in HBG and right after I told him that "He could purchase them for only $10 now before they hit stores for the retail price of $100 (or whatever price we made up) because we were trying to build "brand name loyality" for Vivitar. He called my bluff and went on Ebay while I was there and showed them to me, "buy it now" for $8! Seriously go on Ebay and put in "Innovage", it's a joke.

Anywho... are you still in the "business"? I drove by the "office" the other day and noticed it wasn't there anymore. I guess Saquib never took over there like he was supposed to. What happened to him? Where do you and Justin live now? Reply back when you get a chance.

P.S. Do you know who this is? I'll give you a hint... I was the "leader" who was always "negged out" Oh wait... that could be anybody... I still have the same number so call me if you figure it out and I will do my best to answer. Although it's been a couple of years now you may not have it

P.P.S. Tell J Ro the Giants still suck

#1 UPDATE Employee

Are you kidding?

AUTHOR: Jackie - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 28, 2007

I have been working with A-1 Imports for two years. I know a lot about the company, I have done the sales and the administrative side. I read this posting, and honestly laughed. If you would have known the guy who had wrote it, you would too. I mean, he only worked here for 3 weeks!

I'll start from the beginning...
Justin Roy is not a "fast talking shyster from New York." In fact, he's from Connecticut and on a personal level from working closely with him; I know the shyster part isn't true either.

1. About how we promote opportunities in our company...
Indeed we are going through an expansion, and have executed programs that we put into place for people to have a great opportunity for a manager or supervisor position. We also tell people that our program is TOUGH and not a lot of people will make it (Not everyone is cut out to manage people...)

2.About our product...
We work with several products from Liz Claiborne and Lola Cosmetics, to Disney products, tools and electronics. Our guys to B2B Sales and offer the products at a promotional price. (40%-50% off) before they hit stores, to build brand name loyalty or to sell overstock product for our clients.

Also, if it is a "no-name" brand product we DO NOT say that it is from any specific retail outlet (i.e. Radio Shack, Cabellas, etc). If anything, he went out with a representative that maybe lied. But even then, I'm not sure if I believe it. Either or, it's at no fault to us, most of are sales people are contracted.

Bottom line, we have several repeat customers that love to take part in buying our promotional or clearance items. If we found out that any of our people were "ripping people off" it would definitely be taken care of and they would be terminated.

Speaking of terminated.... I remember quite clearly why Sean left.

3. About Sean
Sean took no part in our 'Management Program'. He already had a full time job distributing snacks business to business. We offered him an Independent Contractor position where we would CONSIGN him merchandise to take along on his regular snack sales route to make extra money for himself.

One night, (the last night we saw Sean) I clearly remember my manager, Justin being quite upset because Sean had left through the back door (Which was strictly forbidden to prevent theft because you had to walk through our warehouse where we hold all the merchandise.) We then came to find out Sean STOLE Mp3 players. (One that we knew about for sure). Talk about ripping people off! Are you kidding?!?

Weird... he never came back. Gee.. I wonder why.

Now, as for me, I love our company. They have given me SEVERAL opportunities to travel- which I love to do (Acapulco, Dallas, New York, Chicago, Boston, Connecticut, Miami) And OBVIOUSLY I'm still here because I feel appreciated, I've learned valuable business/sales skills and there's great potential for growth no matter what you want to be in our company! I have seen several promotions within the last 6 months, and I know I will continue to see people better their lives and careers with us at A-1 Imports.
