I too am a victim of these companies. The materials they sent were a complete joke. Also, i had been having second thoughts about my being able to do this since i am disabled. I returned the equipment the very day i got it. When i called the person at start-up essentials about this and asked if i could be relieved of the contract they said yes, no problem. When i found out later that they were taking $140.00 each month from my bank account i called A-1 leasing and was told the lease was signed that the monies had been transferred to start-up essentials and there was nothing that could be done. I had my lawyer at pre-paid legal services write a letter and we got a response from their lawyer along with a copy of the contract. I do not remember initalling all the places that was on this contract. The contract looks pretty intimidating. So far i've continued to allow the deduction.

Now i have received in the mail what appears to be a proposed settlement of a class action suit filed by Sharon Hubbard against these companies as well as other associated companies. The law firm representing Ms. Hubbard is Hubbard & Biederman of Dallas TX. It appears they want me to sign an Exhibit B in order to receive the benefits of the settlement which the best i can tell would provide credit for the last three monthly payments. This would be $ 420.00. If this is correct then i would still be paying these people over $4,000.00 dollars. According to the letter there are 6,625 persons who are included in the class.

It appears a small credit and i really would have hoped for more. Are there others out there who have received this settlement proposal? Do you read the terms of the settlement the same as i do? Any suggestions?
