A-1 TRANSPORTATIONS SERVICES, LLC A-1 TRANSPORTATION A-1 FREIGHT SYSTEMS, LLC TRANSPORTATION BROKER MISREPRESENTS LOADS TO CARRIERS TO GET CHEAPER RATES. FORT MYERS, Florida

My trucking company was contracted by A1 Freight Systems to haul a M88 assault tank from Fort Benning, Ga to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. We were advised that the machine weighed 108000 pounds, and would require an 8 axle rgn trailer to move it. We deadheaded a truck from Fort Myers, Fl to the origin of the load, 600 miles away.

We recieved a rate confirmation from the broker, which clearly stated 108000 pounds. After my driver loaded the machine, Fort Benning gave my operator a bill of lading, which clearly stated "10 axle rgn with outriggers required, no exceptions...dimensions L334 W144 H134 WT 112840". I advised the broker, and he stated that the military officials were wrong about the weight, and we should just leave with it. I then advised the broker that we were not going to operate illegally, and create a safety issue. I then billed the broker for my deadhead miles, driver detention, and permits that i purchased for the load, that were now void, and non-refundable. He made an offer of 400.00, which i rejected. My extended costs to break even exceeded 1000.00.

After i rejected the offer, i was faxed a letter stating that they are now cancelling the load, they will pay me nothing, and its my fault. I have documentation of everything, which i will make available to anybody who requests a copy. I have also provided all documents to FMCSA, SDDC, and the BBB.
