Ripoff Report Verified™ REVIEW

EDitor's UPDATE: Positive rating and recognition has been given to A Forever Recovery for its full commitment to quality customer service.

Ripoff Report's discussions with A Forever Recovery have uncovered an ongoing dedication by the company to total client satisfaction. This means that clients can expect that the company will work towards finding a mutually satisfactory resolution to any concerns. A Forever Recovery listens carefully to client concerns and sees them as an opportunity to learn from past mistakes and become more efficient as a company in the services offered and the support for those services.

One pitfall of drug and alcohol treatment is that recovery can be incomplete, or not last long enough to achieve a result for the client. A Forever Recovery offers several different services as a part of its drug and alcohol rehab. Some of these include:

Statistically speaking, there is something to be said for the degree and the level of rehabilitative services that a recovering addict receives. For example, clients who receive further treatment (four to twelve weeks of treatment) after completing detox were up to 10 times less likely to relapse while those who were just completing a detox (five to seven days of care only) relapsed at rates between 65 and 80 percent. What this means is that detox combined with actual rehab is exponentially more effective than just a detox. A Forever Recovery offers a longer treatment program to help reduce relapse risk for patients.

What is truly exceptional about AFR is that this treatment center applies an excellent detox, a thrilling rehabilitation program, and an extensive and involved aftercare program, effectively covering all bases to ensure that clients have the best chance that they can get of winning the battle against drug and alcohol addiction once and for all.

The information provided in this report below is based on comments made by Stephanie Woodhams during an onsite inspection held by a third party verification company with no biases towards A Forever Recovery.

A Forever Recovery is a substance abuse program that uses a Holistic approach of mind, body, spirit, and empowerment through choice. Stephanie Woodhams stated the following about her company, "we have a medical model and our program is evidence based. Our clients all have certified counselors and licensed counselors that develop treatment goals with them and those are changed and revised throughout the program. The client gets a treatment team that consists of a counselor, MRT moral recognition therapy, facilitator, case manager, and an aftercare specialist. We do believe their discharge planning should begin at the beginning of the program. Our aftercare program lasts for 1 year. It enables us to have at least 1 year of statistics on success, relapse, slips, things like that." The methods utilized by A Forever Recovery have a high success rate for recovery and most clients return immediately to the workforce.

Leads for A Forever Recovery for primarily obtained through online marketing and referrals from past clients. They also utilize third party referral sources. The typical sales process for A Forever Recovery consists of the client or the client's family reaching out to see if there is a bed available at their facility. From there the appropriate method of treatment and insurance coverage is assessed.

CUSTOMER CARE & COMPLAINT RESOLUTION – A FOREVER RECOVERY

During the on-site interview, Ms. Woodhams was asked to describe a situation where a client was not satisfied with the level of service they received. Ms. Woodhams expressed that their most common complaint arises because the client's family is forcing them into treatment. She further explained, "coming to a treatment facility does not guarantee someone's sobriety. Family and loved ones expect us to say yes, they've gone through a 30 or 60-day treatment and they will be fine. They’ll come home and be sober. Of course, that doesn't always happen. Addiction is a very difficult disease to conquer. It requires a lifelong commitment. It is not just an inpatient rehab." In order to remedy complaints like this, "we do provide the tools and if a person makes the choice to use them they will be successful. Our clients do have an excellent success rate."

When asked to comment on complaints posted on Ripoff Report's website Ms. Woodhames stated the following, "there are several comments on the website of Ripoff Report. Most of them are from many years ago, I have been the executive director since we opened and I am familiar with them all. A Forever Recovery took over the building and there was a rental agreement for a building that use to house a Narcanon program which is based on Scientology. A Forever Recovery is not and never has been nor any elements of Scientology in our program whatsoever. We are also not a program named Best Drug Rehabilitation or Best Drug Rehabilitation. There are several reports that claim we are the same thing. Of course, without AFR'S pictures but with BDR'S picture. We do not scam to hurt people and the nurses never put drugs into stock medication. Most of the Ripoff Report reports are completely erroneous and I would love to have them removed." She also offered the following rebuttal, "my name is Stephanie Woodhams I have worked on staff since 2009 and in an attempt to see what some of the complaints where I did come across a report that had erroneous information. I was familiar with some of the circumstances but it been distorted and exaggerated. There was a line at the bottom that said if you don't believe me you can call me and when I called it was another treatment center. So, I thought that was pretty scandalous and malicious trying to use false information against us and trying to market to the website as a marketing tool." A Forever Recovery is licensed by the State of Michigan and is CARP accredited.

When asked what type of changes they have made to honor their commitment to making things right with the consumer per the request of Ripoff Report, Ms. Woodhams stated, "we have a lot of checks and balances in place with regard to staff and clients. I personally hold a focus group once weekly to stay in touch with client population. when we became CARP accredited in 2011 we created surveys. We have aftercare surveys, participation surveys, visitor surveys...we have surveys for everything. We greatly increased the staff training and we also have external training on sensitive issues. EEOC patient rights and HIPA compliance confidentiality and we began to have a once a week treatment team meeting with all of our counselors and case managers. In addition to our trying to have our clients be happy, we have checks and balances on our staff and client population. We have made extensive changes to our building. Every year we do changes to the environment here and it looks wonderful."

A Forever Recovery is proud to be a part of Ripoff Reports Corporate Advocacy Business Remediation and Customer Satisfaction Program, "It means a great deal to be a part of the Corporate Advocacy Business Remediation and Customer Satisfaction Program. Because I've always felt that Rip Off Report needs a way to be accountable for itself and to remove write ups that are completely erroneous with invalid data. A Forever Recovery would love to clear its name. Because we are proud of what we do and we have a deep commitment to both our program and to the addiction epidemic in the world. I feel this program will help us achieve these goals."

A FOREVER RECOVERY – STATEMENT FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – PAMELA ANDERSON

" We are one of the oldest and most reputable drug and alcohol treatment centers in the state of Michigan. Our caring and professional staff are dedicated to making each client's experience memorable. This means that clients can learn tools to help them achieve lasting recovery well after they have completed treatment. We hope that they carry these tools with them for a lifetime of recovery.

A Forever Recovery's team have stated that they are adequately trained and certified to help clients through the recovery process during all phases. A Forever Recovery takes employee satisfaction seriously as well. These people are preying on hurting families with such a false face of love and reassurance. They are LIARS, or they really believe the garbage they are told by management.  They refresh their staff constantly, during my husband's stay 6 employees were fired including his case worker.

When you have a loved one that is needing immediate help you reach out to people.  This company has their scripts down in the way they reassure you.  The process of getting my husband into the facility was very easy; Same day.  They stated that insurance would cover the stay except for the Copay of $3000.  The only way they would cover his stay would require a stay of more than 45 days. If I removed my husband before the 45 days I would be held responsible for $13,000. That was stated several times.  No matter how long he stayed I have to pay anyway, so that was slick.

Blue Cross will not cover this company at all.--there is a reason for that.  Of course I was so excited for my husband to get the help he needed.

We drove 3 hours to take my husband that night and I financed the copay--due to addiction I was the only employeed person in my home.  They did not give me a copy of the papers I signed.  Next, I said good bye to my husband and drove away.  Later I found out they drove him to another location for detox, which was not told to me.  It was a dreary building in downtown Battlecreek.  Peeling paint, part time workers with no experience, actually they were former addicts. No doctor on site at all. They kept him there for two weeks. I was told that he would be in the facility I was shown so he could take advantage of the sauna, and exercise room.  LIES!

After the two weeks he was introduced into the general population( like prison).  In the mean time I was calling my Insurance company getting more information on what would be covered.  The company "A Forever Recovery" or "Best Rehab" is not registered with my Insurance.  They will not cover at all.  LIES Again!

us Attorney General investigations wrongful death suits med mal practice and more

AUTHOR: loveurself - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 24, 2015

it is s my understanding that currently there are at least 20 active US Attorney General investigations, 2 wrongful death lawsuits and 5-7 medical mal practice suits as well as a plethora of insurance frued complaints.  my daughter is in law school and found several depositions.  Paticularly one involving the former director of nursing and also former employees who testified about patient practices.  You should go to the state of michigan and look up the complaints. I recall that some of the physicians they claimed to be on site didnt even have a license, i assure you there is no dr. On site. they are liars and i think you could do research and find attorneys who are representing others like yourself. Google AForever recovery is a scam there are numerous websites out there working hard to reveal the truth about this organization. Pamela Anderson the facilatator at Forever Recovery is the sister of Per Wixstrom google that to. Good luck.

AFR detox facility i was there

AUTHOR: loveurself - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 24, 2015

afr detox in battle creek.  I was there for 7 days and never once did a dr. Step foot into the slum house.  There is a hot tub, 1 not 2.

The water is undrinkable we could not brush our teeth or shower there.  The toliets dont flush if staff is using washing machines, so often times the toliet was full of feces or vomit.

Each night we would walk over to the seperate rehab facility to shower. there are only 2 shower stalls. I had to  use the handicapped stall no shower curtain and no shower head. The water would run down the wall and i would position myself as best i could to get the water and wash myself the entire time i was in 4 inches of standing water.

The staff in the detox house treated me with love and kindness all of the staff there had been thru the program and understood where i was emotionally. my desire to get sober was stronger and more important to me then the lies they told me to get me in there so the horrendous living conditions were not going to keep me from getting thru detox

the ladies rooms are in the basement and i can only say that it felt like a dungeon. The bathroom walls were rotted no water pressure to wash hands but sanitizer was provided. The sulfer smell was horrific, i grew up in well water and this was nothing like i ever experienced before.  Disgusting.  i was there in June 2015. Lets keep it real.  I never came across any fellow patients who said wow "this place is so nice and its everything they said it was"

im only responding here in regards to the detox house. I have much to share about the rehab building, their staff, those facilities the lies the MRT program and how they disciplined patients, the scam.  we all wished we were back at the slum house so i promise you the struggle was real i will post about that in another topic.

This is false.

I also am a former client from 2011. First of all the detox center does also have it's own sauna, as well as two hot tubs and a gym. A doctor also visits the site daily at the detox center. And yes, this is normal with all rehabs. Secondly, blue cross blue shield does cover AFR. I have that insurance and my bill was covered in full aside from labs and detox medications. AFR saved my life and without it I would not have several years clean, nor gotten into college and am now only 2 terms from graduating with a degree in criminal justice. They also went above and beyond and I still am in contact with several employees from when I was there.

AFR Is Legit

AUTHOR: ImRight - ()

POSTED: Monday, March 31, 2014

First things first, this lady has not a clue about rehab centers whatsoever. I am a former client of AFR in 2011. Today I have almost 3 years clean and it is all due to the foundation of my recovery which started at AFR. Allow me to clear a few things up, Unless your going to a state funded rehab, your going to have to pay something, as AFR is privately owned.

Upon entering most treatment facilities, they are going to put you in their detox facility before they bring you over to the rehab. (I know this because I have been to them and bring meetings into rehabs every week, so I know what I'm talking about). Hiring new employees and letting people go is a part of any company so I don't know why this would be relavent to this woman's post,

but during my 90 day stay there the staff was pretty much the same, they're are many employees that work there between the management the counselors the cleaning staff the security the drivers the kitchen employees the gym staff as well as the specialists they bring in from outside, the the fact that they let go of 6 people shouldn't be surprising.

There are doctors who come in as well as medical professionals such as nurses on site so this lady's opinion of that is also false. AFR is a holistic rehab and they do not load you up with a bunch of anti depressants and other medications which are given to clients at other rehabs (most of the time misdiagnosed). As for former addicts working there, the correct term is recovering addicts, and that is also common in rehabs. People who have been through programs like these and are succeeding go back and work in these types of places to help the still suffering addicts.

In fact, I'd prefer a recovering addict who had experience on recovering from addiction who can give me personal experience and relate and identify to what I'm going through over someone who doesn't know what addiction even really is other than what they've learned In a classroom. Furthermore, AFR counselors are all certified MRT instructors, which is the program they have clients work during their stay there, so they know what they're doing.

Just to clarify, there is A gym and sauna at the rehab facility so once again this lady's post is incorrect.  AFR worked for me and can work for any one else willing to change their life, take this persons opinion with a grain of salt and do your own research on treatment centers, as she obviously did not.

a great rehab center

AUTHOR: terter - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, February 18, 2014

My son just graduated from A Forever Recovery. It was a great adult experience for him and a great recovery. They got through to him with things he now understands. He wrote 100's of pages about himself to find out what was bothering him. The group sessions opened his personality up to understand the real world. Find a graduate and ask him for a referrence about A Forever Recovery.  Don't believe all this ripoff report because they are not true.

Same horrible Forever Recovery experience

AUTHOR: kmd - ()

POSTED: Sunday, January 19, 2014

Experienced the exact same circumstances with my son.

I contacted the Attorney General office of Michigan, and essentially they did not or would not help me.

Was out sooooooo much money because had to pay up front to get my son in the program.

The conditions were deplorable yet their attorney denied everything.

Do you or anyone else know of a way we can start some kind of class action suit against this lying, deceiving, pathetic place.  They are nothing but liars!
