We found Mike and his company off of Craigs List after we had lightening come in our our TV, receiver, subwoofer, DVD player and Xbox 360. He came and picked our items up to take to his shop to test and give us an estimate for repairs. He sent the estimate to us and according to his opinion, the Xbox 360 had a bad board in it. It had audio but, no picture. He listed it as not worth repairing on the estimate.
We submitted everything to our insurance company and they sent a check to pay for repairs and a new Xbox 360. We told Mike to go ahead and repair the items he could. He did and when we got the bill, it was $400 more than the estimate. We worked with him on the price because at that point we did not have the money to get a new Xbox 360.
He called the evening he was to deliver and said his van broke down and we would have to come pick everything up AFTER we had paid a $120 pick up and delivery fee. Once we reminded him of that he suddenly had a brother that could deliver our items.
The brother showed up and delivered and he was getting ready to leave and we asked where the Xbox 360 was. He said it was broken so they kept it. We said no, it was not theirs to keep just because they couldn't fix it. So, we called Mike. Mike said he "threw it away" because it didn't work and besides, insurance was buying us a new one anyway. Um, hello, just because it was broken did not give him the right to keep it. That to me is like taking your car to the shop and them saying, sorry, we can't fix it, then having it towed to the scrap yard. It was NOT his decision to make and it did NOT belong to him! If anything, it belongs to the insurance company. They are the ones that bought it. He went on to say that ANY item brought to their shop that they cannot fix or they do not think is worth fixing, they THROW IT AWAY even if it is a big screen TV!!!!!
So we told Mike that even though the board was bad on it, parts were still worth something on it and that we were either going to deduct $120 off what we owed him or he was going to give us our Xbox back. He said he couldn't give it back because it was gone (I still think he repaired it and sold it) so we told him that we would take the $120 off the total. Then we told him that he was getting a personal check rather than the cashiers check because the bank is closed and the amount due had changed and he screamed that we broke our word. We broke our word? He STOLE from us!
In any case I would not recommend these guys to anyone. You could give them something for an estimate and they could say nah, can't fix it and you will never see it again. You are better off to crack the phone book and find a reputable repair place. Stay away fro A to Z Electronics!!

Update - Xbox traded for a camera. Calls no longer returned

Mike finally admitted that he traded our Xbox for a digital camera. He said he got the Xbox back and we could come pick it up and give him the $120 we kept. We told him that we also needed to pick up the $40 game and $60 Halo controller he took to use to test the game and that our subwoofer he "fixed" was not working properly. He agreed to give all items back and fix the subwoofer. That was weeks ago. When we call to try to set up times to come by now, he will not return our calls.
Looks like we will be seeing Mr Mike in court.

That crook fixed the Xbox and sold it. He tried to stick it to you as well. You are right to deduct the $120 from his check. Don't let this thief get away with it.
