I purchased a warranty from AA Auto Warranty for $1,530. AA Auto Warranty merely sells warranties/broker the deal. I purchased the warranty because before purchasing my vehicle, which was in perfect condition, I researched the make, model, and year of my vehicle. I learned that my make and model sometimes have transmission issues. So that was the reason I purchased the warranty.

Sixteen months later, and 15,000 miles and sure enough, my vehicle transmission failed. I didn't think much of it since I had purchased a warranty. I had followed all manufacturer maintenance schedules and had my vehicle serviced at the dealership where I purchased it. I even double checked the service departments's  recommendations to make sure that I was also following my owner's manual.

I had the vehicle towed to the dealership who contacted the warranty company with the $3,900 claim for a transmission replacement. The warranty company responded and said that I had not followed the factory recommendations, which is bogus, according to my owner's manual and the dealership. The actual warranty company who denied my claim is Consumer Direct Warranty Services (AA Auto Warranty is merely sells the warranties, but does nothing further).

I Called AA Auto warranty and the "customer service" rep on the other line answered my concerns with telling me that, after they sell me the warranty, they "don't do a d**n thing about it". Frankly, I couldn't have said it any better then the rep.

Basically, AA Auto warranty sells warranties from companies that do not honor their warranties. And, despite having made payments that totaled $1,500 directly to AA Auto Warranty, they would not refund my money. They took my money, sold me a junk warranty. Now I'm out, $5,430. Thanks AA Auto warranty.

Customer Response to AA Auto Warranty

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Saturday, April 19, 2014

AA Auto Warranty,

Thanks for the response, four years later after I posted mine in 2010.

"This anonymous poster feels free to distort the truth because he faces no consequences for doing so. No name, no accountability"
ANSWER: Well, "Customer Service" you didn't post your name either, so why accuse me of not leaving mine? What's next my home address and phone number, am I supposed to post those too?

"So the customer complained, instead of requesting further assistance. By his account, he (or perhaps she) did not receive much help when he/she tried to get help... Why not call back and ask to speak to a supervisor or a manager?"
ANSWER: I did request further assisatance. I asked for the manager and then manager's supervisor. I went two levels up the chain, and couldn't get any higher. What else was I supposed to do? I only complained here to help other people from buying warranties that aren't honored because AA was of no help in resolving the issue whatsoever.

"Nevertheless, we try to help. We contact the CDWS claims supervisor to seek information, to check on claims progress, or to relay certain information. We probably did so in this case."
ANSWER: No, you didn't. Nothing whatesoever was done. I was told that, after AA sells me the warranty, and I quote, they "don't do a d**n thing about it". That was the answer and the help I got from the supervisor.

"Ultimately, however, we cannot force a company to do what the customer wants, which is what this person wanted, and that is why he/she is angry."
ANSWER: How about you don't sell warranties that are not honored? How about you sell warranties from companies that actually honor the warranties? I was angry because I spent $1,500 on a warranty that was not honored. Who would not be upset by such an issue?

"We deny this person's accusation of uncaring, because we do. But caring doesn't mean that we can perform extra-legal feats just because he/she thinks we ought to."
ANSWER: I never asked AA guys to perform any "extra-legal feats".

"we do not sell them, and we are aware of the issues."
ANSWER: Glad to hear you no longer sell them. Unfortunately, you did sell them in 2010 because that is the warranty that I was sold by AA.

"People can choose to complain or to request help, within the limits of the possible. Those who do the latter seldom do the former."
ANSWER: Well, thanks for the final blow/false accusation. I requested help, and I received none, as already discussed above. I left this review on the internet so other people don't make the same poor choice on an auto warranty as I did.

As far as I can tell, the header is incorrect, as AA is not AAA.

This anonymous poster feels free to distort the truth because he faces no consequences for doing so. No name, no accountability. It's true that the Rip Off Report is a complaints board, not a "help me" board. So the customer complained, instead of requesting further assistance. By his account, he (or perhaps she) did not receive much help when he/she tried to get help. Assuming his/her account is completely accurate, which is doubtful, why not call back and ask to speak to a supervisor or a manager? No, he/she shouldn't have to do that, but it might have been more productive than complaining.

What he/she was probably told was the truth: That his/her contract with CDWS actually excludes the seller from claims matters. Nevertheless, we try to help. We contact the CDWS claims supervisor (supervisor@checkaclaim.com) to seek information, to check on claims progress, or to relay certain information. We probably did so in this case. Ultimately, however, we cannot force a company to do what the customer wants, which is what this person wanted, and that is why he/she is angry. Further, we are being blamed merely because we actually answer the phone, which CDWS doesn't do. We deny this person's accusation of uncaring, because we do. But caring doesn't mean that we can perform extra-legal feats just because he/she thinks we ought to.

Regarding CDWS, we do not defend them, we do not sell them, and we are aware of the issues. We advise anyone with a CDWS contract who believes that CDWS has violated the contract to submit a formal complaint to the CA Dept of Consumer Affairs.

People can choose to complain or to request help, within the limits of the possible. Those who do the latter seldom do the former.

Thank you for reading.
