AAA has questionable and suspiscious billing practices.  If you are already a member and are reading this, please double-check your bill from AAA.  If received in paper, please use your magnifying glass.  In very very tiny print, there is a 1 dollar charge for an 'education fund' on the bills.  It may not be on all bills, but it was on mine!  IF customers are not paying attention closely, then AAA will be receiving millions of dollars for this 'fund'.  I am not sure what they think they are getting away with.  And since the dollar charge is included in the bill you may not notice.  This is also improper billing - why don't they add the option for those interested to 'contribute' after the total is placed -- like a tip, so to speak.  But they don't..  there is a scam going on here.  don't be surprised if AAA ends up in the news like a Bernie Madoff scandal.

response to AAA MidAtlantic

AUTHOR: Daisy - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, September 24, 2013

AAA does try to sneak in a dollar for their 'fund'.  I have proof.  The kind of proof that is provided to the Attorney General in Deleware and to the BBB for a complaint.  I have scans of this 'bill' I received and the new bill that I demanded that AAA resend me.  So, therefore, it is true.  I am now waiting for my response to AAA MidAtlantic which I filed through the Office of Consumer Complaints in Deleware (where the busincess has its headquarters and where its CEO Koche has his offices) so that I can get my money back for the services which I cancelled.  I am still waiting for my refund!  Don't use AAA MidAtlantic.  They have deceptive practices!

AAA Rebuttal

AUTHOR: AAA Mid-Atlantic - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, September 10, 2013

AAA Mid-Atlantic does allow its members to make a $1.00 donation to The Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education along with their membership renewal dues. This one dollar donation is clearly disclosed on the member’s renewal statements as a voluntary contribution to the Foundation for Safety and Education and is displayed separately from the annual renewal dues. Members are not required to pay the $1.00 donation. Members can elect to have the $1.00 donation removed from their current and all future renewal bills, as was the case in this particular situation. (As such, AAA Mid-Atlantic sent this member a new bill without the $1.00 donation.) The Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education is the beneficiary of the “education fund” voluntary donations (typically just $1.00) referenced in this posting. We are a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) tax exempt charitable organization, affiliated with AAA Mid-Atlantic, dedicated to educating, training and raising the level of traffic and travel safety awareness for all. Our Foundation relies on the voluntary donations we solicit from AAA members and the general public and AAA Mid-Atlantic collects on our behalf, to support the programs and services we provide. It would not be economically possible for the Foundation to solicit and collect a $1.00 contribution except as part of the AAA Mid-Atlantic renewal billing process. The Foundation provides all services free of charge and reaches out to all ages from pre-K to senior citizens through various programs. We deliver safety messages and raise awareness regarding child passenger safety, pedestrian safety, drunk driving, texting, senior mobility and aggressive driving while also supporting local schools through AAA School Safety Patrol and school bus safety programs. We have a team of regional Safety Services managers who provide educational programs throughout the region with two managers who serve the Commonwealth of Virginia. For more information about the Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education, we encourage you to read about our programs at AAA.com/Foundation. Sincerely, Susan Meade-Beachell Executive Director/Chief Development Officer Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education Tax ID # 23-3100128
