Technician tried to scam me into unnecessary repairs On 7/7/14 I brought in a Jonome serger that, although for the most part was in working order, had moments that it didn't work very well. I brought it into AAAA TV Electronics Vacuum Appliance to be serviced. They told me they would put a rush on it, and that I might get it back as soon as that Friday (7/11/14), worst case it would be 10 to 12 business days. I called that Friday to check the status and the employee who took the call was extremely rude to me about wasting his time. He told me that he would not even bother checking on the status for me. The following Wednesday (7/16) I called to check the status, and got the same rude response. I called again the next day and Omar (the manager) answered. He checked the status and informed me that they had checked in my machine on 7/7/14 and it was disassembled on 7/11/14, from there he could not provide me any further detail on the status of the service of my serger. He assured me that the machine should be ready by Wednesday 7/23/14. I called on that date to find the machine still was not ready. Originally he told me that the machine should be ready in another week or so. This was also the date that I was supposed to get my machine back in a worst case scenario. Omar told me to check in again the following day, which I did, they still could not provide me any more information on my machine.

On Friday (7/25/14) the technician called me to let me know that he had disassembled the machine on 7/11/14 and although it is a great machine, and he congratulated me on having such a good and reliable machine, informed me that it needed to be completely and totally rebuilt, that every part needed to be replaced and that they would need more than double the money I had already paid. The technician also pointed out the horrific state of the machine, commenting about it had clearly never been cleaned out or appropriately serviced within the past several years. I clean out all my machines correctly after every project, at least once a week! Considering that the machine worked before I dropped it off, I fail to understand how it could be in such extremely poor condition. I also don't understand how they have been supposedly looking at the parts for 9 full days before deciding that all the parts were in such horrible condition. I denied them permission to do any further "work" on the machine and that I wanted it returned. The technician pressed that the machine would not work correctly unless I allowed him to make these repairs and how crucial they were. I continued to argue that I could not afford the cost of these repairs and that I simply wanted the machine back at the very least in the condition it was in when I dropped it off. At that point the technician told me I could pick up the machine Saturday (7/26/14) morning any time after 10 A.M.

On Saturday (7/26/14) morning, shortly after 10 A.M. I showed up at AAAA TV Electronics Vacuum Appliance to pick up my serger. They insisted that I sign a form stating that I had refused any further repairs, and that they had returned my machine to me. However, they would not even let me see my machine until after I signed the form. I told them I would not sign anything stated that they had physically given me my machine until they had actually done so. They told me it was store policy to withhold any machines until the form had been signed. It wasn't until I started calling the local police department when they agreed to at least show me my machine. While I was signing the form to reacquire my serger, they kept insisting that I was making a huge mistake by not allowing them to rebuild my machine.
