AARONS RENTAL PURCHASE DECEPTIVE PRACTICES ALBANY Georgia

I rented a television and a keyboard from my local Aarons store. I chose to pay for my merchandise monthly in one payment on the 15th of every month. Made my initial payment and everything was fine. A couple of months go by and I have a collections person on my front porch telling me my payment is late. Mind you it's not the 15th yet. I explain to him that my payment is not late because my due date is the 15th. He goes on to tell me that I signed a contract for the tv to be due on the 1st and the keyboard on the 15th.

Now what since would that make for me to rent two things on the same day and pay a full months payment on each and have the payment due on different days. I was in the process of getting ready for work so I really did not want to argue with this man and I did not have the time to go through my file cabinet to search for my original contract.

The collection person continues to insist that I signed a contract for the first and that is the date that I told the sales person to put me down for or I did not pay attention in the store when the sales person went over my contract with me in the store.

I found my contract the next day and sent them a copy of my contract that clearly states that I signed a contract for both items to be due on the 15th of each month. Well they came back with that one month I made a payment on the 23rd, which was late and changed my due date from the 15th to the 1st. So in essence they were saying that even though I made a full months payment on my merchandise on the 23rd I was due for another payment again on the 1st. I don't think so my contract does not say anything about them changing due dates only that I would have to pay late fees.

I paid my account of the late fees and collection fees (they charge $10 anytime they knock on your door). Everything going along okay I thought I started making half payments one on the 1st and on the 15th of each month instead of a full months payment on the 15th and would you believe they came and knocked on my door again.

They claim that I had missed a payment. I started using the night drop box since I work at night. I told the man at my door that I had made each payment twice a month. He said no I did not

I decided to take the time to go in in person and talk with the manager and he insisted that I missed a payment back in June mind you they came to my house in August about an alleged missed payment in June. I have both of my money order receipts for June. No matter I still missed a payment.

It seems as if they count on customers throwing away their contracts or receipts but I didn't. I will never do business with Aarons ever again.

I would have returned the items a long time ago I had not purchased both items as gifts.

Stay away from this store in Albany, Georgia or make sure you keep all contracts and receipts.
