I rented a TV from Aarons in Febuary and unfortanly after making only 2 payments the LCD got cracked (long story). I accepted responsiblity for the accident and have been talking to Aarons on how we are going to resolve this issue. According to the contract they are to sell the TV at "Fair Market Value". Well to make the story short they have discussed the account and even provided a copy of the contract to another person with out my consent or notification.

I know that I am responsible for the tv but I feel that they have violated my rights as a consumer by discussing the amount with someone other than myself. IS there anything I can do? Is there any kind of law against this? I am willing to pay for the broken tv but I wish they would have never discussed this with the other person (who is my ex being nosey).

Any help?

Thank you

Brian

Maybe Aarons got played here

While reading your post, it was very easy to think that Aarons had broken some privacy issues. However, at the very end, you disclose that it was your ex that is involved.

The first question would be, how would he even know about this issue, unless you had told him? Could he have also been on the contract? Is it possible that he has ID that shows him living at the same address? Same address/ same last name, easy to understand then. It seems that there has to be some link with the ex already.

If your not legally divorced or legally separated, I don't see where Aarons intentionally disclosed private information intentionally. They most likely thought it was just a husband trying to help with the issue. You would know more on how the ex already knew about certain things. It seems that he is more at fault. That Aarons was not trying to harm you, there intention most likely was to help.
