I have been with the Hartford since 2003, I was informed that if I paid my bill before the issue date for the bill I would not receive a bill and would save sixty dollars a year on the five dollar service fee.   I have received a bill even tho my monthly payment is in well before the 12th of each month. I check the bill section on their site that lets me know what amount is due and when last payment is received, you see my bill is paid by my bank, which I generate on the internet.

How does this happen, they want 2 payments in the renewal month and send a bill on the issue date, after the first payment is made, wanting the rest of their money. This creates a five dollar fee.  Since my due date on my bill is the 29th of the month, and is paid  in plenty of time to not generate a bill on the 12th.

I called on 2/20/10 spoke to a supervisor named Cindy, and was threaten with cancellation if that service fee which is now up to 25 dollars is not paid.  I have been informed by several supervisors in the past year, that they can not collect that money at the end of this year

This is all generated from Novembers billing but I had no 5 dollar service fee in December, because they sent no bill???? although nothing had changed as to how i paid my bill in that month or since that month.   All the sudden in January 2010 I owe 20 dollars in service fees.

As of today I owe 25 dollars and it will continue to add up each month until the end of the year.  Cindy blamed this all on the computer, she does not get it some one has to tell that computer!!

As far as I am concerned these people are crooks, and how AARP can claim to be so helpful to seniors is a crock of crap, after reading the ripoff reports I know I will loose a bundle to them if I go elsewhere now, so will be looking elsewhere as soon as this policy is done.

They will also loose the homeowners that I now carry with them.  Going to notify my mortgage company on Monday and what is the best way to change that when it comes due, lucky they both come due at the same time  I also have family members that are ready to quit AARP.

Also inquired with another company and it would be cheaper with them for insurance and looking forward to never being associated again with AARP the Hartford.
I plan on telling anyone who will listen to say away also.  NEW motto go local for business avoid these kind of companies.

AARP The Hartford/ kicked them to the curb

AUTHOR: Tracker - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 25, 2010

I am happy to say I finally kicked the Hartford Insurance to the curb, I not only got rid of the car insurance, but the homeowners as well.  I continued to receive billing each month for the five dollar service fee until the auto policy was to be renewed, after I called and canceled, the billing stopped for the service fee.  I have not informed them as to this date about the homeowners policy not being renewed, I just requested my mortgage co. to put a stop payment for them and my new insurance co. will be paid.  I received a new homeowners renewal from the Hartford and it was a quote fourteen dollars less than last year, but  that quote included the 20% discount for having the auto policy that I canceled. My new insurance is cheaper for the auto so the increase to keep the homeowners insurance would increase by $117.40 and my new insurance is is $37.00 more than what the Hartford would be if  I had renewed the homeowners.  I also will get a discount from the new insurance co in 2 years when the 5 year penalty is over for having a claim on my homeowners ins.  So the future does not look so bleak after all without the Hartford, looks like we can all do without them in our lives with their bad attitude and lousy customer service reps like CINDY.
