On the recomendation of AARP we switched our auto insurance policy to The Hartford. After one year we decided to switch back to our previous insurance company. Because The Hartford auto-renewed the policy without notifying us, there was a period of about two weeks in which we were still covered by them. When I informed them of the change they billed us $215.00 for the two weeks ? not exactly a good deal, and certainly not customer friendly.

Don't Worry

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, February 06, 2009

Don't Worry! you can get your over-payment back. They renewed you because of the aarp agreement to renew every member if you met requirements. if you send them proof you were insured, they should take care of you.

Check your policy

AUTHOR: Eric - (U.S.A.)

One thing that I would recommend it next time check your policy. With any insurance company, they tell you that you policy will be auto renewed unless you cancel in writing. You can not assume that if you don't pay, they will not renew. That is why they send you a new renewal policy form prior to your renewal date, by law they have to send that to you 30 prior to renewal.
