On the APlus net website your company endorses them. THis is my experience
Since they are into decepetive ripoff practices, are you?
I think a late fee that exceeds the annual rate of a domain name registration is immoral and flat out a legal method of extortion to Domain Holders. The following is an experience I had with domains.aplus.net, which is charging 2300% their annual rate for a late fee. My Registar is NOT my host company. I have a different hosting company.
Domain Name: AMADEUSMAX.COM
Registrar: ABACUS AMERICA, INC. DBA NAMES4EVER
Whois Server: whois.names4ever.com
Referral URL: http://www.names4ever.com
This conversation took place from the conversation window I had come up. I went to renew my website DNS, thats the name service for a website. Basically buying your name, your .com. You can buy a .com for $5-$15 for a year, and buy other ones even cheaper, the .biz or .tv. Well mine came up in Dec 28th, 2004. I didn't realize this but wanted to correct it. This was on February 11th, 2004. So I went to www.names4ever.com , which is now http://domains.aplus.net/. This is chat window came up, which is how you talk to customer service. I am visitor74269.
liliyab: Hello! How may I help you?

Visitor74269: HOw do I renew it?
liliyab: You just need to pay for the renewal and the late fee
Visitor74269: Late fee?
liliyab: yes - $185
Visitor74269: $185 late fee
Visitor74269: for amadeusmax.com
Visitor74269: Are you out of your mind?
Visitor74269: are you there?

Visitor74269: for amadeusmax.com your saying there is $185 us dollar late fee
liliyab: yes
liliyab: $185 us dollar late fee
Visitor74269: Okay in about 10 minutes every webmaster board in the US is going to have this ridiculous conversation listed on it.
Visitor74269: I will not pay, and I am filing a complaint with the internic.
Visitor74269: You enjoy the loss of buisness
Visitor74269: I am going to get a new dns for $15 us dollars.
liliyab: you can get a new domain name for $5.95
liliyab: but the late fee for amadeusmax.com is $185
Visitor74269: 15 sites I have posted so far

Aplus.Net Response
AUTHOR: Amanda - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, November 10, 2005
On behalf of Aplus.Net, I would like to apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced. I would also like to apologize that the origin of the fee was not explained to you further by our customer service representative.
The fee to regain an expired domain is determined by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), and not by Aplus.Net.
ICANN charges $150.00 to reinstate an expired domain name. Aplus.Net charges a $35.00 fee to file the paperwork with ICANN. For further information on this fee, please visit the ICANN website at http://www.icann.org. Please contact ICANN should you have any further questions about their fee. Please feel free to contact me at amandar@aplus.net with any questions regarding our $35.00 filing fee. Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
Amanda Rusich
