A ripoff scam to defraud consumers by doing work, replacing parts that are not necessary. Plus charging exhorbitant prices (price gouging) for materials and labor that are not defined by item price or hourly rate. In addition, no sales tax was stated for material which seems to me to be a State law violation.

I spent $889 on 9 May 2007 to be able to bring this to the attention of authorities and consumer aide affiliates.

A similar thing happened one year prior with the price being the same ($889) for replacing the accumulator (a $79 part). However, when I said go ahead and replace it as it is within the 5 year warranty, they declined saying that they could not replace it as they could not get their money back money back and that I would have to pay the $889 to protect the compressor. I declined at that time to do anything.

That sort of tells the story of the Company's standard mode of operation doesn't it?

Contacted ABS on 5/11/07 and informed them of complaint and intended actions to contact "8 on your side" and the BBB. Response was that he would make a note and tell owner of Company.

The cost of doing business with some consumers!

You indeed reported my company to all media and governing agencies affliated with your complaint against the company.
We were cleared of any wrong doing! Why? Because we did not handcuff you or use restraits to force you into anything, this was an option and suggestion only. You elected to do the work. As a matter of fact, you wanted the work done that day, however we could not schedule the work until the following day. That morning you called to cancel the service, only after you ranted that we were ripping you off and you were calling the police! Mr. Sittloh, this was an option, no money was collected from you, we accepted your cancellation. However you called back and now wanted the work done again, we dispatched two technicians to do the work. As soon as my men pulled into your driveway, you were standing there, yelling and screaming we were ripping you off...again, we have not performed any work, nor collected any funds from you.
Again, our construction manager, accepted your request to cancel and again, you elected to do the work!?....
Our constuction manager, had our technicians leave your home on the pretense they forgot parts, this was only to give you time to think about doing the work or not. You still elected to have the work done and our technicians returned, completed the job, collected for the services rendered.
Two days later, you called again, ranting that we had ripped you off! You were having our people arrested, calling every agency related. Enough is Enough!
1.) We pay sales tax at the time of purchase for materials, we do not pass it along to the customer.
2.) We are on a flat rate billing, as most service companies.
3.) We have been in business for 18 years, not by taking advantage of the consumers.
4.) We have an outstanding rating with BBB and all municipalies affliated.
You mentioned in your complaint that you had spent $889.00 to bring this to the attention of consumers and authorities, you could have done this for free!
Our standards are clear and proven.
What we do not do is offer Bi-polar medicines for our customers.

The cost of doing buisness

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

Im not familiar with the company that you dealt with, however I have been professionally involved in the HVAC trade for 10 plus years.

The Accumualtor that you speak of may have only cost $79 but there is so much more cost involved than the price of a part. The salary of someone to answer the phone when you call, the cost of the phones themselves. Insurance, workmans compensation, gas, maintenance, holiday pay, cell phones, office supplies, liablilty insurance, rent, electric bils.

Thats just to name a few.

When I go to McDonalds I pay $1.59 for a large soda. What do you think they actually pay for it? 10 cents? They sell it for 16 times what it cost. Why?

Because they have other expenses.

By the way in your area there is over 300 Air Conditioning contractors!!!

Its hardlly "price gouging" with 300 other companies competing for you buisness.
