1. Overcommitment on delivery schedule -- We were quoted '4 days' by the sales person but the actual work took close to 2 weeks.  We were smart enough to cushion in some extra time before our scheduled move so we could move in some small pieces ourselves.  But these guys literally chewed up our entire buffer till the day before our scheduled move!

2. Unacceptable mistakes made during installation -- On one of our stairs, they literally had 2 styles (2 colors) of carpet installed!  It was fortunate that my husband and I decided to check their progress every night so we caught the mistake early enough to get it fixed the next day (see #3 for our experience).   Lesson learned: The single most important thing one should do during renovation is: Be present (ideally during the day) to check on the contractor's work, no matter how busy your own work schedule is.
