On 3-15-07 I made a 200 mile round trip from my home in Princeton. Maine to the Bangor Maine office of Acadia Hearing Center (whose main office is in Ellsworth, ME) to be tested and fitted for a hearing aid by David Cuthbertson the Owner.

On 3-26-07 I returned to Acadia Hearing Center in Bangor where the hearing aid was placed in my ear and and I paid $2,900.00 before leaving. The hearing aid didn't resolve my hearing problem and David Cuthbertson had me return to his Bangor office on the following 20 listed dates for the purpose of tinkering with, adjusting and physically modifying the shape of my hearing aid that to this very day doesn't resolve the problem that I paid Acadia Hearing Center $2,900.00 to resolve.

Following are the dates I had to return to Bangor for tinkering by Mr. Cuthbertson: 4/5/07, 4/19/07, 5/3/07, 5/17/07, 5/31/07, 6/14/07, 6/21/07, 7/26/07, 9,13/07, 10/1/07, 10/15/07, 10/25/07, 11/1/07, 11/8/07, 11/26/07, 12/20/07, 12/24/07, 2/11/08, 3/3/08, and 3/17/08.

In all I made 22 round trips of 200 miles each from Princeton, ME to Bangor ME totalling 4,400 miles. The cost of gasoline alone for the 4,400 miles was Approx. $1,000.00 which added to the $2,900.00 I paid brings the cost of my worthless hearing aid to $3,900.00.

Realizing that I was being strung along and ripped off, on March 24, 2008 and again on April 2, 2008 letters were sent to Acadia hearing center asking for my $2,900.00 to be returned so I could go elsewhere with my hearing aid needs. I was willing to forego the expense of gasoline and wear and tear on me and my automobile. None of the letters were answered, they were instead ignored.

On 4/12/08 I took the normal and logical step of filing a complaint against Acadia Hearing Center with the Better Business Bureau. It just so happens that in Acadia Hearing Center's Bangor office it is advertised they are a BBB member.

Very conveniently I then received a letter from Acadia Hearing Center dated 4/29/08. The letter is full of untruths and someone at that company went so far as to FORGE my signature on a contract stating that on 6/14/07 I was satisfied with my hearing aid. So far the BBB has been procrastinating and soft peddling the entire matter rather than dealing with the facts as they exist. I do not have faith in them.

To date I have been ripped off for $2,900.00 plus $1,000.00 plus who knows how much for wear and tear on my automobile and myself. All I am asking for is the return of $2,900.00
